EXPERIENCE
· General Certificate of Education.
· Two (2) to four (4) years experience in vessel safety administration, ideally in offshore construction.
· Computer literate.
1.1.1.1.6 2nd Mate/3rd Mate/ DP Operator

OBJECTIVE | Responsible for the safe navigation and DP operations and completion of routine documentation as required by the Company |
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Liaising closely with other vessel's officers and deck crew.
· Maintaining the navigational charts, nautical publications and navigation equipment.
· Monitoring the correct operation of the DP system and interfaces to pipe lay / cable lay parameters in accordance with the calculation and other construction activities.
· Liaising with the Chief Mate with regards to the operations of loading, co-ordination of support vessels and movement of the ballast.
· Checking all navigation equipment and instruments as necessary.
· To periodically carry out checks at the fire fighting stations; sees to the maintenance and substitution of the equipment provided. The inspection, any irregularities noticed and the corrective action undertaken must be reported to the Chief Mate (SSO) who will see that they are recorded.
· Operating the GMDSS equipment and ensuring mandatory provisions relating to it’s operation as laid down in the radio regulations are adhered to.
· Performing duties on the heliport and landing operations of the helicopters when required.
· Carrying out all tasks of the Third Mate if this position does not figure in the ship’s plan.
· Operating of dynamic positioning systems in line with DP manual.
· Operating ballast control systems as directed by the Chief Mate.
· Performing functions as identified in the vessels emergency preparedness manual.
· Maintaining filing cabinets and documentation for navigation, ship's documents and DP check lists.
· Reporting any incidents to the Chief Mate immediately.
· Inspecting and checking communication equipment when the Radio Officer is not on board.
AUTHORITY
· Cease any operations and take any actions he deems necessary until the Master is notified.
QUALIFICATIONS
· As per Company external qualification and training matrix.
· Fluent in verbal and written English.
EXPERIENCE
· Three (3) years as a deck officer of which one (1) year on an offshore vessel.
· DP experience as per IMCA guidelines.
· Previous experience with vessel control systems.
