EXPERIENCE
· Five (5) years minimum sea going experience as Chief Engineer or similar capacity and with 1 year at least on off-shore unit vessel.
· Be familiar with computerised control systems.

RESPONSIBLE TO | Master |
OBJECTIVE | Assist the Master in the safe and efficient running of the Vessel. |
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Liaises closely with the other vessel officers, and deck assistant, he directs the Bridge Officers and other personnel at his disposal at any given time.
· Liaises with the Safety Officer as delegated by the Master.
· Keeps watch on the Bridge and determine the position of the vessel at regular intervals, assists the Master during manoeuvring.
· Record all events and incidents in the vessel logbook.
· Monitoring the correct operation of the DP system and pipe lay / cable lay parameters in accordance with the calculation and other construction activities.
· Monitoring the survey department during project activities.
· Keep radio contact with helicopter crews and act as HLO when required.
· Operate the GMDSS equipment and ensure mandatory provisions, relating to it’s operation, as laid down in the radio regulations, are adhered to.
· Direct the marine operations of support spread including mooring operations.
· Compile reports as determined by the standard documentation systems and procedures.
· Notify the Master immediately of any defects, which may affect the safety to crew, ship's safety or put at risk the Marine Environment.
· Co-ordinate the ROV launching operation in conjunction with the ROV Supervisor.
· Co-ordinate movements of cranes and ballasting of vessel to avoid excessive vessel trim / heel.
· Carrying out stability and lifting calculations prior to allowing any (de-) ballasting.
· Maintain safety standards as determined by the Company QHSE Policy and Procedure.
· Duties during an emergency situation are detailed in the Emergency Response Procedures.
· Ensure that all construction activities on the vessel, platform, barges and supporting vessels are carried out in a safe manner and in adherence to the Company QHSE Policy, Statutory Regulations and guidelines.
· Administer, monitor and audit the vessels permit to work system.
· Maintaining cargo gear and lifting equipment.
· Maintaining fire fighting and lifesaving equipment and ensuring the equipment is kept in good condition and planned maintenance is performed accordingly.
