To watch all mechanical ship’s plant and equipment during operation.

To assist for planned maintenance and repair of mechanical / hydraulic ship's equipment.

To maintain the above equipment, comprising engine room, in a clean, tidy and working condition and ensure their safe utilization.

To be familiar with and adhere to the permit to work system

To report areas of potential danger to the Vessel Equipment Engineer

Perform duties as motor man on lifeboat and fast rescue craft.

Perform duties as damage control team member.

 

AUTHORITY

 

To perform tasks as directed by his superior.

To stop his activity if required on safety grounds if to continue could cause any damage or injury

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

As per Company external qualification and training matrix.

English language spoken.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

At least one (1) years.

One (1) year experience on marine engines and crane equipment.

Preferable Marine Certificate Education or Similar

 


1.1.1.1.20 Bosun

 

RESPONSIBLE TO 2nd Mate
OBJECTIVE Operate on deck for Marine and Construction activity – operate as J.L.T.-L.D.A. control room.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

To become familiar with and to maintain awareness of the relevant Company requirements and where applicable, the latest industry codes and standards including statutory rules and regulations.

To control work activities of the marine deck crew and delegate their work accordingly including assisting construction crew when requested.

To operate on J.L.T.-L.D.A. control room.

To control / direct mooring activities of cargo barges / pipe carriers as requested.

To ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of on deck workspaces and machinery work spaces.

To assign appropriately qualified deck crew to man the helideck fire stations and assist the Helicopter Landing Officers.

To ensure all rigging and lifting arrangements for vessel equipment are certified for use in a suitable condition and properly stored.

To ensure all rigging and lifting activities are carried out in a safe manner.

To ensure all work is performed in a manner consistent with the Company’s policies for safety, quality and environmental matters.

Ensure that the workforce is briefed on safety considerations throughout the execution of the work.

Provide Tool Box Talks (TBT) as required by the nature of the job.

Any additional duties within own experience and capability as advised by the Chief Mate.

Perform relevant duties within vessel emergency organization as required

 

AUTHORITY

 

Organize, within the frame of his responsibilities, the deck work activities.

Assign work tasks to the deck crew(s).

Cease any operation and take any action he deems necessary until the Chief Mate is notified.
