OBJECTIVE | Safe execution of offshore project operations as directed by the Superintendent |
RESPONSIBILITIES
The First Assistant Superintendent is responsible for the supervision and safe execution of operational requirements during his shift as directed by the Superintendent. His responsibilities are:
· Co-ordination of construction activities and optimization of all the production phases.
· To Ensure the Superintendent is kept fully informed of potential problems and construction status.
· To liaise with First Engineer and Vessel Equipment Engineer in order to ensure preventive maintenance and construction activities are co-ordinated.
· To liaise with subcontractors shift foremen (ROV, Welding, NDT and Coating) to optimize smooth production.
· To liaise with Field Engineer and Client Inspectors on all project related operations.
· To liaise with the Safety Officer (SO) to ensure that the workforce is briefed on safety issues related to the execution of the work.
· To motivate all construction crew/subcontractors with regards to Health, Safety and Environment awareness.
· To ensure that standards determined by the Company QHSE Policy and Safety procedures as specified in the SMS are adhered to and put in place and to ensure that all construction activities are carried out in a safe manner.
· To report near misses and incidents.
· To ensure that toolbox meetings and job safety analysis (JSA) are carried as required.
· To ensure that the permit to work system for construction crew is adhered to and respected.
· To ensure that rigging gear used is within date and properly marked
· Direction of Crane Operators’ main activities including co-ordination with the Chief Mate for cranes movements on board and for ROV launching and underwater operations.
· To assist in marine operations as required.
· To provide construction reports at the end of each shift
· To Assist the Field Engineer in the follow up of project equipment and consumables.
AUTHORITY
· To issue work instructions to construction crew/subcontractors on his shift.
· To cease any operation and/or take any remedial actions he deems necessary on grounds of health, safety to personnel and vessel or on technical reasons until the Superintendent is notified.
