· Implementation of the Company QHSE Policy, statutory legislation and, when applicable, Project specific requirements in strict relation to his area of competence.

· To maintain awareness and ensure that all technical personal is familiar with the relevant Company requirements and where applicable, the latest industry codes and standards including statutory rules and regulations.

· To ensure all workspace activities are carried out in a manner consistent with Company policies for quality, safety, and environmental matters and in accordance with Corporate / Department specific procedures.

· To ensure safe and efficient operation of all machinery on board..

· To ensure that permit to work system is understood and operated and initiate Tool Box Talks (TBT) and Safety Induction according to the circumstances.

· Ensure training for engineer and electrician is carried out as per DP Manual.

· To ensure adequate training of the crew under his control, included those in the emergency team, in liaison with the Safety Officer.

· To make sure that Company Planned Maintenance System (PMS) is rigorously implemented, in order to:

Survey, test and maintain all ship's machinery/equipment, comprising Emergency systems, Safety systems and all mother's company owned/rented equipment which may be operated on/from the vessel, in accordance with classification, legal and company requirements and acceptable standards.

· Ensuring that Oil Record Book and Engine Log Book are accurately filled and up to date.

· To issue,maintain and fill all documents and reports related to the engine department, as written instructions to all watch-keeping engineers, monthly technical report

· Ensure that efficient and timely ordering of adequate resources and spares has been done for all ship’s equipment.

· Identifying potential ship hazards associated with engine operations and advising the Master accordingly.

· Notifying the Master immediately of any defects which may affect ships safety and operations capabilities or put at risk the marine environment;

· Investigating incidents and applying corrective action as agreed with the Master;

 

AUTHORITY

 

· Assign technical department personnel specific roles with respect to the engineering department’s responsibilities under the SMS.

· Order, in consultation with the Master, spare parts and consumables for the Vessel.

· Request technical assistance from Company as he finds it necessary

· Order bunker and fresh water in consultation with the Master
