To become familiar with and maintain awareness of the relevant Company requirements and where applicable, the latest industry codes and standards including statutory rules and regulations.

To ensure all workspace activities are carried out in a manner consistent with Company policies for safety, quality and environmental matters and in accordance with Corporate / Department specific procedures.

To ensure safe and efficient operation of all machinery on board, during his duty shift.

Ensure that permit to work system is understood and operated, and provide Tool Box Talks (TBT) and Safety Induction according to the circumstances.

Ensure adequate training of the crew of his duty shift, included those in the emergency team, in liaison with the Safety Officer.

To implement Company’s Planned Maintenance System (PMS), in co-operation with Chief Elec, in order to:

Survey, test and maintain all ship's machinery/equipment, comprising Emergency systems, Safety systems in accordance with classification, legal and company requirements and acceptable standards.

Survey, test and maintain all mother's company owned/rented equipment which may be operated on/from

The vessel, in accordance with acceptable standards.

Supervises bunkering / offloading of fuel/oil, the refuelling of vessels.

Responsible for documenting changes/as-built drawing packages for all system to reflect mechanical current status.

Responsible for efficient and timely ordering of adequate resources and spares for mechanical equipment.

Notifying the Chief Engineer immediately of any defects which may affect ships safety and operations capabilities or put at risk the marine environment;

Perform duties within the vessel emergency team as indicated in Emergency Preparedness Manual.

With Chief Engineer develops recommendations for stand by repair work and modifications.

Any additional duties within own experience and capability as advised by Department Head/Supervisor

 

AUTHORITY

 

Assign engine room personnel specific duties and work instructions.

Order, in consultation with the Chief Engineer and after his approval, spare parts and consumables for the Vessel.

Cease any operation and take any action he deems necessary until the Chief Engineer is notified.

Propose changes to the SMS

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

As per Company external qualification and training matrix.

Fluent in verbal and written English

 

EXPERIENCE

 

At least five (5) years with advanced hydraulic.

At least five (5) years offshore experience.

At least five (5) years marine experience

 


1.1.1.1.13 2nd Engineer / 3rd Engineer

 

RESPONSIBLE TO 1st Engineer
REPORT TO Chief Engineer
OBJECTIVE To carry out watch keeping, control and maintenance of engine room mechanical equipment and propulsion equipment.
