In this function Participle I is used only after certain verbs in the passive voice, the most frequent of which are:

to see

to hear

to find

to catch

to keep

to leave

· The books were seen being packed and dispatched to the orphanages. = Видели, как книги упаковывали и рассылали в детские дома. / Бачили, як книги впаковували й розсилали в дитячі будинки.

· Jane was heard quarrelling with her brother. = Слышали, как Джейн ссорилась с братом. / Чули, як Джейн сварилася із братом.

· The boy was caught stealing money from his classmate’s bag. = Мальчика поймали, когда он крал деньги из портфеля своего одноклассника. / Хлопчика впіймали, коли він крав гроші з портфеля свого однокласника.

· Mr. Peterson was found lying dead in his armchair. = Мистера Петерсона нашли лежащим мертвым в кресле. / Містера Петерсона знайшли лежачого мертвим у кріслі.

· We were kept waiting for an hour or so. = Нас заставили ждать час или более того. / Нас змусили чекати годину або більш того.

· The child was left standing all alone in the dark room. = Ребенка оставили стоять совершенно одного в темной комнате. / Дитину залишили стояти зовсім одну в темній кімнаті.
