1. Вы получили от заказчика письмо с просьбой командировать ва­ших специалистов для сбора дополнительных исходных данных для ТЭО, подготовленного третьей стороной. Напишите ответ, указав: а) необ­ходимость перечисления исходных данных, уже собранных фирмой; б) количество специалистов, подлежащих командированию; в) срок, на который они могут быть командированы; г) основные условия коман­дирования ваших специалистов в страну заказчика.


2. Заказчик задерживает открытие аккредитива для оплаты услуг ваших специалистов, подлежащих командированию в страну заказчи­ка. Напишите письмо заказчику: а) укажите на необходимость ускорить открытие аккредитива; б) отметьте трудности, которые вы испытывае­те в связи с создавшимся положением; в) обратите внимание на послед­ствия, к которым может привести сложившаяся ситуация.

XVI. Make up dialogues based on the following situations. Use the speech

1. Your organization is giving assistance in the construction of a plant in the customer's country and the customer has undertaken to produce all non-standard equipment for the plant. They request you to supply two su­pervising engineers, but your new reimbursement rates seem high to them. Discuss the matter. Say that you had to increase your reimbursement rates recently. Explain why.

2. A foreign firm wants you to send a consulting engineer to their chemi­cal plant. Discuss the amount of your specialist's transfer allowance and the weight of the luggage to be paid by the customer over and above the free allowance indicated on the ticket.

3. Receive Mr S., your customer's representative. They would like to send a team of their engineers to Russia for technical and industrial train­ing. State and discuss the general terms on which you receive the customer's trainees.

XVII. Read the following excerpts from documents you may come across
in your business activity.

(The name of the company), hereinafter referred to as the "Supplier" and (the name of the company), hereinafter referred to as the "Customer" in accordance with the Agreement for rendering economic and technical assistance dated..., concluded between... and..., have signed the Present Contract for the construction of the Cement Plant in N. Para 1

The Supplier shall render technical assistance to the Customer in the
construction, operation and maintenance of the Cement Plant in.... For
this purpose the Supplier shall send to............ specialists.

Para 2

The number of specialists, their specialities and periods of stay in... shall be stipulated in the Appendix to the present Contract. The Appendix shall form an integral part of the Contract.

Para 3

The Supplier's specialists shall be sent to... at the Customer's request in accordance with the agreed schedule of commissioning of various units and shops of the Cement Plant.

Para 4

To ensure successful construction, operation and maintenance of the Cement Plant the Customer shall make all necessary arrangements to pro­vide the project with skilled local personnel. For this purpose the Customer shall:

a) employ the required number of qualified engineers, technicians and skilled workers;

b) arrange training of the required number of skilled and semiskilled work­ers in the training centres of the Customer's country;

c) arrange training of the required number of engineers, technicians, skilled and unskilled workers at the Cement Plant under the supervision of the Supplier's specialists.

1. The Customer shall reimburse the Supplier for:

a) monthly salaries of the Supplier's specialists in local currency from the date of arrival in... up to the date of departure from... at the following rates:

The Customer at his own expense shall ensure:

a) meeting and seeing off specialists, interpreters and their family mem­bers;

b) the travel of specialists, interpreters and their family members to the duty station by railway (air-conditioned coaches) and/or by car and also transportation of their luggage;

c) first class hotel accommodation for specialists, interpreters and their family members on their way to the duty station in... and back including expenses for service and meals;

d) transport facilitiesJor business trips;

e) first class hotel accommodation (or adequately furnished flats) and offices;

f) adequate medical service including hospitalization if necessary;

g) transport facilities for sightseeing and social purposes;

h) primary school facilities for children of specialists and interpreters.

Para 7

1. If any of the Supplier's specialists fall ill while staying in..., the Cus­tomer shall continue payment of his monthly salaries for a period of up to... months.

2. In the event of prolonged illness of a specialist the Supplier shall re­place him and the Customer shall reimburse the Supplier for all expenses incurred.

3. The Supplier reserves the right to recall any of his specialists and re­place him with another specialist of similar qualification and experience.

4. The Supplier's personnel shall observe all the laws, rules and regula­tions of the Customer's country and also respect the local customs and tra­ditions.

5. The holidays of the Supplier's country shall be days off for the Supplier's specialists and shall be paid by the Customer.

Para 8

Payments under the present Contract shall be effected in accordance with the Trade and Payment Agreement between... and... dated..., namely:

all expenses of sending the Supplier's specialists to... shall be paid by the Customer in accordance with the Trade Agreement now in force.

Para 9

To effect payments under this Contract the officials of the... side in... shall, once every month, draw invoices in 3 copies to the Customer through the National Bank of... for collection. A statement, containing the names of the Supplier's specialists, the duration of their stay in the Customer's coun­try, monthly reimbursement rates and other expenses incurred under the present Contract shall be enclosed with each invoice.

The Customer shall pay against the above invoices within... days from the date of receiving the invoices.
