Emphatic Complex Sentences

Exercise 1. Translate the sentences with the emphatic it into Armenian. State what part of the sentences is emphasized.

1. It was Anthony Eden, not Winston Churchill, who appeared to be the classic Englishman. 2. It must have been then that I noticed the shelf at about one height with my head. 3. Exercise 2. Use the construction with the emphatic it to emphasize the parts of the sentences in bold type.

Many interesting experiments are carried out in our laboratory. 5. Many goods are exported from China. 6. I didn’t recognize him until he told me his name. 7. Exercise 3. Translate the sentences into English, using the construction with the emphatic it or that.

Exercise 4. Point out parenthetical clauses in the following sentences. Translate into Armenian.
