1. Presentation

T. Today we have a scientific conference — a meeting with the group of world known biologists. For a long time you’ve studied the life of the most amazing animals in the world. And today we are gathering to tell each other the most interesting facts about these animals. Besides we’ll discuss the conditions of animals’ living.

1. Presentations of Project Works

T. There are 3 groups of scientists:

1^st group have studied the life of African animals.

2^nd group — Asian and Australian animals.

3d group -r- Oceania and Antarctic animals.

Africa

Р1. Our group studies the life of African animals.,

Elephant

It’s the biggest animal which lives on land. It lives in Africa or Asia. It’s very clever but it can be dangerous. An elephant’s trunk has. no bones but it has about 40,000 muscles. A trunk can kill a lion with one blow. It can pickup a feather>

An elephant tusks can be 3 meters long, and can weigh 200 kilos..

P2 Giraffe

It’s the tallest animal. It lives in Africa. It can run fast. Giraffe eats leaves from the trees. A giraffe’s tongue is 40 centimeters long. Giraffes can live for one month without water. A baby giraffe can be 2 meters talll It can stand up and walk twenty minutes after its birth.

P3. Gorilla

It’s the largest monkey. It lives in Africa in high mountains. This monkey is black or brown. It’s height is up to 175 centimeters and it’s weight is 140—180 kilograms. It eats fruit and vegetables. It sleeps in a tree at night. Today this animal is in danger, because men hunted them for their fur.

P4. Cheetah

The fastest animal ort the land is the American cheetah. It can run 100 kilometers an hour. It eats weak animals. There are very few cheetahs in Africa nowadays.

Australia

P5. Let us to tell about Australian and Asian animals. Australian fauna is very exotic. Try to guess about what animals we’ll tell you.

It is a very -strange animal. It lives in Australia. It has fur like a cat. It has a beak like a duck. It can swim very well and eats plants and insects under the water. It lays eggs like a snake. And the babies drink milk from their mother. (Platypus)

P6. This animal lives in Australia. It is from kangaroo family. They have got pouches as well as kangaroos. Their babies live in pouches. They are great, sleepers. They sleep on the branches of the trees for about 19 hours a day. (Koala)

Asia

P7. This animal comes from the cat family. It lives in Asia. It’s very fast and can jump and swim very well. It has got strong teeth and it kills other animals for food. The animal has a beautiful red fur with black stripes..(Tiger)

P8. This animal lives in bamboo forests in China. It walks on four legs and it can climb the trees. It eats bamboo. (Panda):

P9. This animal is perfect for desert life. They have two rows of eyelashes to keep sand out-of their eyes. They can dose their long noses to keep out the sand, too. They have humps on their backs. They do not carry water. They carry food. If it is hungry, its hump will get smaller. If it is thirsty it will drink a lot of water at once. A thirsty animal can drink up to 140 liters of water. If it drinks a lot of water, it won’t drink again for over a week. (Camel)
