Using bedpan and urine-collecting bags

Bowel and bladder habits in seriously ill patients occur after operations in the supine position. For emptying intestines in bed give a urinal and when urinating, give a bedpan bag. During urination, women usually use bag, and men use so-called duck.

You need to choose such delicate parts adhering to individual requirements, depending on the age and weight of the patient. Individualize the bedpan bag and bedpan. They are being served to patients in a clean and warm after accomplishing their function empty and clean it at once.

Medical urinals make of different materials: metal with enamel coating, Dutch ware, rubber, plastic. The shape of the urinal all more or less alike - smooth rounded shapes, low height, the oval hole in the center, closed by lid and the side pipe for draining the contents.

Inflatable rubber bedpan exceeded on the characteristics as described above: has a small capacity, in frequent and prolonged use can lose its tightness, when removing it under the patient urine contents can be shed. However, for many years it was used for the prevention of pressure ulcers in seriously ill patients (Pic. 79 b).

Recent years urinals is increasingly using plastic because of its lightness, convenience for disinfection and the effect of "warm material", i.e get warm rapidly in contact with the patient's skin (Pic. 79).

There are different types of urinal bags, oval shape with elongated hole in the form of pipe, which made of metal or glass. The shape of the pipe in the urinal bags for men and women is different (Picure 80 a, b). In recent years, disposable catheters become increasingly popular (Pic. 80).
