Hygienic bath or shower procedures

In admissions to a hospital, a patient is prescribed hygienic shower or tub, rubbing the skin of contaminated areas depending on the patient’s state. Hygienic bath or shower for patients carrying out in the bathroom of admission department (fig. 54-55).

Bath is pre-treated with disinfectant solution, washes with scrubber and soap, reused with hot water. The bath is filled with water (the first cold, then hot) so that the water temperature was approximately equal to 35-37° C. Patients who need assistance, dipped in a tub on the sheet, or set him/her on the tuffet which you put in the tub and pour through the shower (fig. 56). You wash a patient in this order: head, torso, and upper legs, crotch, waist, belly and legs. Duration of hygienic bath should not exceed 30 minutes. Patients admitted from home, only dressed in a hospital gown.

Hygienic bath is not allowed for patientswith serious diseases (with a hypertensive crisis, acute myocardial infarction, acute violation of cerebral circulation, with pronounced circulatory insufficiency, tuberculosis in active phase, etc.), certain skin diseases, diseases, requiring emergency surgery and childbirth. Typically in such cases, the patient's skin wipe with a tampon moistened in warm water and soap, then dry and wipe with clean water. You can also use warm water for rubbing with addition of cologne or alcohol. Nails should be trimmed shortly.

Possible complications: worsening health: heart pain, palpitations, dizziness, changes in skin color. If you see these signs, you must stop taking baths, to transport the patient by a wheelchair in the room, to provide the necessary assistance.

Haircut

Necessary equipment:

• Scissors, hair-cutting machine.

• Pelvis for burning hair, matches.

• Alcohol (70%)

The procedure:

1. Prepare for the sanitary-hygienic processing: decompose the necessary equipment.

2. Lay on a tuffit (couch) oilcloth; sit a patient and cover his/her shoulders with polyethylene fabric.

Clip hair-by-hair cutting machine, in skin diseases of scalp -clip the hair over basin (prepared in advance)

4. Burn down the hair.

5. Sterilize scissors and a razor with alcohol.

Shaving

Necessary equipment:

· Necessary equipment: • rubber gloves.

· Razor, shaving brush and foam.

· Napkin, towel, water tank.

The procedure:

1. Prepare for the sanitary-hygienic processing cleanse: arrange necessary equipment, put on the gloves.

2. Heat the water (up to 40-45° C), dipped a towel in water, wring out and cover patient’s face.

3. Remove the napkin, apply the foam over face with brush.

4. Shave the patient, hold skin taut with your other hand, pulling it in the opposite according to the razor.

5. Wet face with wet then dry cloth.

6. Sterilize the razor with alcohol.

7. Remove gloves, wash your hands.

In admission department of hospital all incoming patients must be examined for pediculosis.

1.4 Antipediculosis activities:

Pediculosis (from Latin pediculus, "the louse") is a parasitic skin infection and its derivatives hair. Lice are carriers of spotted and relapsing fever, which agents can penetrate through the damaged skin (by comb hair). There are three types of lice, causing human head louse, pubic and head louse.

Head louse affects the hair on the head. Hair look dirty, dull, unbrushed, like "dump" and closer to the root of the hair there are seen numerous small white eggshells they are nits, which are sit tightly on your hair and you cannot easily brush out them, so the patients have to immediately cut their heads shaved. Body louse lives in the folds of the clothing, but it also causes skin lesions and numerous scratching, so clothes have to do away with it. Pubic louse can also infect hairy parts of the body: the pubic area, sometimes a beard, mustache, eyebrows, axillary cavity.

Disinfecting control activities against lice are composed of the following ways to kill insects and their eggs:

1) mechanical method;

2) physical method;

3) physical method;

In case of lice detection carry out the following activities:

• registration of a patient in the journal of infectious diseases-f. No. 060/y;

• emergency pediculosis notification (f. No. 058/y) in the SEA;

• registration of lice cases on the face of patient records;

Cleansing of a patient, disinfection and sterilization of a room and things being in contact with patient.

Anti-pediculosis cleaning of head lice is carrying out at the detected location with the application of lice control kit contents.

All patient's clothes clothes should be boiled or sent to fumigatory (heat-treatment chamber) for processing.

Reexamination of the patient's hairy part of the head after 7 days.

Repeat decontamination if necessary.
