Modes of motor activity in the hospital.

Ø The strict bed mode - the patient is maximally limited, strictly prohibited from active movement in bed, even to turn from side to side. This mode is assigned in the intensive care unit and the intensive care unit after surgery, injuries of the spine and skull.

Ø The bed mode - the patient does not leave the bed, can sit, turn around. All actions for personal hygiene are performed in bed by medical personnel.

Ø The semi-bed mode - patient spends all his time in bed, can sit on the edge of the bed or chair for meals, holding an early morning toilet and can go to the toilet accompanied by nurses.

Ø The ward mode - patient spends a lot of time in bed, free to walk around the room. All actions for personal hygiene are performed within the chamber.

Ø The total (free) mode - the patient is in the office without movement restrictions within the hospital and the hospital site. Free to walk along the corridor, climbing stairs, walking around the hospital grounds.

Kind of mode is assigned exclusively by the doctor, and without his permission it is prohibited to totally change the kind of mode.

One of the main problems in patient care has always been the difficulty of movement and the rise of critically ill patients. It is especially difficult to care for fat, weak, elderly and paralyzed patients, body weight exceeding 80-100 kg or when the patient cannot change position in bed.

To ensure comfortable position and movement for severe ill patient there is widely used practice of using functional beds (Fig. 9).

Functional bed is a special device consisting of several sections, the position of which is changed by turning the corresponding knob. The head and foot ends of the bed quickly transform to the desired position. These beds may have special mounted fixtures - bedside tables, tripods for drips and nests for storage of individual bed pans and external urinals.

In the complex of measures ensuring compliance with health-protective regime by nursing staff an important place is given to the psychological comfort of the patient.

The atmosphere of the hospital should be responsible for not only hygienic, but also aesthetic requirements. Nursing staff should create a welcoming environment to all patients, observing all the rules of ethics and deontology.

You must ensure that patients are fed on time and in sufficient quantity. If necessary the nurse is engaged in the feeding of patients. At categorical refusal of a patient from a meal immediately inform the doctor about the patient's behavior.

It is important for patients to have a good rest. The nurse must monitor compliance with peace during quiet hours and night sleep (timely disconnection of lighting, radio, TV and others). You need to explain to younger staff that during the rest of the patients is not necessary to clean the chambers.

Talking with the patient is the part of health-protective mode. Nurses must inspire the confidence of the patient in recovery, encourage him to celebrate his successes. At that sincerity and kindness are very important.

Thus, properly organized health-protective mode in the Department plays an important role, as it provides optimal conditions for the stay of the patient in a medical institution, helping to accelerate the healing process of the patient.
