It is used for products made of corrosion-resistant metals, glass, textiles, rubber. Sterilization is produced by saturated steam under extreme pressure in a steam sterilizer - autoclave.
Autoclave (gr.auto - itself and lat. Clavis - key) - "somosierra". Autoclave (steam sterilizer) is a boiler with double walls, between which is water steam chamber. We pour the water through a funnel into chamber. The resulting vapor passes into the sterilization chamber, which has sterilizable material. The water level is determined by the water pipe.
The device is hermetically closed with a lid which is screwed by bolts with nuts or Central shutter. The cover has a pressure gauge which indicates the pressure in the apparatus. The exterior of the device is covered by a casing. Under the lower part of the apparatus there is the source of heat to heat water and to generate steam. At filling apparatus by steam pressure increases and accordingly the temperature rises. Steam penetrates in all the pores of the subject, and it destructs all the contained microbes (Fig. 6).
Sterilization is carried out in sterile metal boxes (drums), in double soft packing made from calico, parchment, paper, sack impregnated paper(Fig. 7).
Metal drums used for sterilization, are produced with a diameter of 16 cm (small drums), 25 cm (average drums) and 45 cm (large drums). The most common are round drums, but there are also square drums.
In order to the steam can penetrate into the drum, the circumference of Bix has holes that are opened or closed by moving the metal bezel with windows corresponding to the groups of holes. The tightness of Bix provides a clamping device which tightly presses the rim to the wall of the drum. The serviceability of this device should be checked each time before placing in the dryer dressing material or linen, as wrong tightness can make content of Bix to become infected. Laying linen in the drums.

Steam sterilizer Metal Bix
The drums are wiped from the inside and outside by a 0.5% solution of ammonia, then push circular plate on the side of the Bix covering the side holes, throw back the lid and line the bottom and sides of Bix by canvas bag, napkin, bed sheet. At laying linen and bandages should be observed once and for all established order. Neatly folded linen is stacked sectoral one by one in a vertical position, so that you can lift from Bix anything, without touching the rest. Dressings are also stacked so that each bundle or package can be extracted separately. When Bix is filled, edges of the lining sheets wrapped one upon the other on top of the content.
In one of the drums on top of the sheets is laid gown, and some gauze napkins and towel onto it. This is necessary so that, washing hands, operating sister was able to wipe them off and put on a sterile gown, without opening the rest of the sheets and material. On the cover of each Bix should be tied oilcloth label with a list of what it contains, with the date of sterilization, the name of the sisters, who prepared the Bix. Closing the lid of Bix, strengthen its existing hook on the chain and firmly adhere the tape so that it is not inadvertently open. In conclusion, check the side holes of the drums.
Laying drums
Procedure:
1. Check the serviceability of Bix;
2. Disinfect Bix inside and out twice with an interval of 15 minutes.
3. Line Bix inside by a double linen cloth.
4. Put the materials or articles so loosely that you can place a hand between them.
5. Put the sterilization indicator depending on the temperature regime for this type of product.
6. Cover stacked material by a napkin lining Bix.
7. Close Bix.
8. Attach a tag to the handle of Bix indicating the name of the Department and the office, kind of sterilizable material.
9. Deliver the Bix in centralized sterilization Department in a dense net bag.
10. After sterilization bring the drums back in a tight net bag.
