Passenger Car Servicing Depot | Figure 9. 3. 2-2 Layout Diagrams in Longitudinal Type of Passenger Coach Servicing Point | Freight Transport Equipment | Layout Diagrams for Industrial Station and Harbour Station | Arrangement of Main Equipment | Number and Effective Length of Station Tracks | General Rules | I Marshalling Station | Я Passenger Station and Passenger Car Servicing Depot | Ж Freight Station and Freight Yard |

13. 3. 1 The newly-built and reconstructed railways shall choose different types of concrete sleepers based on different rails and track conditions. The following sections should adopt wooden sleepers:

1 Within the ballast curbs on abutment of an open deck bridge and the 15 pieces of
sleeper at the both ends (it shall be extended for at least 5 pieces of sleeper outside of
shuttle piece if there are guard rail);

2 15 pieces of sleeper at both front and back ends of a single turnout if wooden
sleepers are used (including the turnout sleeper behind frog heel);

3 The section where derailer and iron shoe brake are located;

4 In above mentioned section where length is less than 50 m.

13.3.2 In a large-sized passenger station where subgrade (or foundation base) is solid and stable with sound drainage conditions, it should use wide concrete sleepers. The number of wide concrete sleepers to be laid shall be 1 760 pcs/km.

13. 3. 3 It shall not lay different sleepers in a mixed manner. When there is a rail joint at the boundary of different sleepers within a same section, it shall extend the same type sleepers out of the rail joint for over 5 ones.

13. 3. 4 It should use concrete sleepers for transition between wooden sleeper and wide concrete sleeper and between monolithic track bed and other new sub-rail foundations,the

length of which should be no less than 10 m, or, under difficult conditions, be shorter accordingly in other station track and secondary station track.

13. 3. 5 The concrete sleepers for station tracks should adopt elastic rail fastenings. Wooden sleeper tracks should adopt separated rail fastenings and secondary station track may adopt conventional spikes.

13.3.6 The sub-rail rubber tie plate for concrete sleeper track shall match with fastenings,the models of which should be selected from Table 13. 3. 6.

13. 4 Ballast Bed

13. 4. 1 The materials of crushed stone ballast bed shall accord with the provisions set forth in the current national standards. Arrival and departure track and other tracks equipped with track circuit shall adopt crushed stone ballast bed; the other tracks should adopt crushed stone ballast bed. Station tracks may adopt Grade П crushed stone ballast. 13. 4. 2 Ballast bed thickness for station tracks shall be in line with provisions set forth in Table 13. 1. 1,where,the ballast beds for arrival and departure track of earth subgrade and the track in rolling section of hump shall adopt double-layer ballasts,in rainless district,it may adopt single-layer ballast.

13. 4. 3 Ballast bed for station track shall be designed as single line track and it shall fill up to 3 cm under rail base with water seepage material between and outside of following tracks:

1 Shunting track, humping track, lead track, arrival and departure track and passenger car servicing track,etc,with frequent shunting and train examining operations;

2 The throat area with busy switching and shunting operations.

13. 4. 4 The ballast bed thickness, shoulder width and side slope in turnout portion shall

be identical with that of the main line connected,the thickness difference of ballast bed for

connected tack caused by concrete turnout sleeper shall be placed on the 30 m up and down

slope out of the turnout.

13. 4. 5 The ballast bed surface in the section using Model П and Ш concrete sleepers

shall be level with the superface in the middle part of sleeper,while the ballast bed surface

in the section using other types of concrete sleepers shall be lower than the rail supporting

surface of sleeper for 3 cm; the section using wooden sleepers shall be level with sleeper

superface.

13. 4. 6 When station tracks are designed into jointed track,the superface width of ballast

bed shall accord with the following provisions:

1 Ballast bed superface width shall be 2. 9 m and the curve shall not be widened outside. • 70 •

2 Ballast bed shoulder width of pushing track on the side with frequent uncoupling operation shall be 2 m,and 1. 5 m on the other side.

3 Ballast bed shoulder width on the outer side of shunting track,lead tracks in large station above district station, arrival and departure track with locomotive examining operations and passenger car servicing track shall be 1. 5 m.

13. 4. 7 Ballast bed for wide concrete sleepers shall be composed of crushed stone ballast bed and top-ballast belt,the materials of which shall accord with the provisions on ballast Class I set forth in the current national standard: Railway Crushed Stone Ballast (TB/T 2140). Top-ballast belt shall be 95 cm wide and 5 cm thick, under the top-ballast belt it shall be the same ballast bed structure and ballast bed thickness as the ballast bed using concrete sleepers,the embedded depth for ballasts at sleeper ends shall be 8 cm. Gradation of grain size shall be in line with the provisions in Table 13. 4. 7.

Mass percentage through sieve (%)   95 — 100 55-75 25 — 40 5 — 15 0 — 5

13. 4. 8 The side slope for ballast bed of station track shall be 1 • 1. 5. 13. 4. 9 It may lay monolithic track bed or other new sub-rail foundation for special tracks required by operations, drainage or other demands within a station yard, and it shall be designed according to actual geological conditions.

Turnout

13. 5. 1 For a turnout on main track,its rail type shall be identical with main track. The rail type of turnout on station track shall not be lower than that for the said track,if it is higher than the rail type for this track, it shall lay steel rail of the same type as the turnout or compromise rail for at least 6. 25 m respectively in front and back of the turnout, which shall be no less than 4. 5 m under difficult conditions, but not in a continuous manner.

Turnout on a trans-sectional jointless track shall adopt jointless simple turnout. 13. 5. 2 Turnout number selections shall be in line with the following provisions:
