12. 2. 5 The quantity, work division and arrangement of passenger station within a terminal shall be determined in considerations of passenger transport, volume of passenger transport, nature of passenger flow, conditions of existing equipment, operation requirements, urban planning and local traffic/transportation conditions, etc..
In usual cases, it may set one common passenger station for all directions connected within the terminal. In the intermediate station where urban traffic is developed and it is possible to attract certain quantities of passenger flow,it can strengthen the equipment for ■ 62 •
passenger transport as it is required.
In the terminal of megalopolis with a large quantity of passenger transport, it may design two or more passenger stations.
12.2. 6 When there are two or more passenger stations in the terminal, work division should be of the follows:
1 It should handle origination and destination passenger trains on the several connected lines among them,if conditions are permissible,it should also handle the passing passenger trains for each other.
2 If passenger flow is heavy in suburb area, work may be divided by way of handling long distance passenger trains,short distance passenger trains and suburb passenger trains respectively.
3 Under proper basis, work may be divided by way of handling original, destination or passing passenger trains or by way of handling original and destination express passenger trains or normal passenger trains.
12. 2. 7 Passenger station should be set within the range of urban district. The passenger station in terminal within medium and small-sized cities can also be located in a proper place nearby urban district. If it is to set several passenger stations,it shall avoid concentration to one corner of city. There shall be convenient traffic links between passenger stations, between passenger station and city center and between major arterial roads in urban district,while considering creation of conditions for development of comprehensive passenger transport.
12. 2. 8 The terminal in megalopolis or scattered distributed large cities shall strengthen the equipment in connection with suburb passenger transport based on the suburb passenger transport tasks it undertakes.
On the main track in the terminal adjacent to large industrial area,residential area and major traffic interchange point in city,it may set passenger stop point.
12. 2. 9 The passenger station with more original and destination passenger trains to handle shall set passenger car servicing depot nearby the passenger station.
