7. 3. 1 The position of main track shared by both passenger and freight trains within the marshalling station shall be designed as enveloped type or one-sided type in considerations of such factors as design running speed of the section, traffic volume, location of passenger station, arrangement of freight yard and branch track, as well as the layout diagram adopted,etc..

On the main track within the marshalling station, it may set, if necessary, passenger stop point for passenger trains and commuter train to park. When it is necessary for commuter train to stop nearby concerned yard or depot within the marshalling station, a platform may be set in a proper place.

7. 3. 2 The position of the transit yard shall be determined by the principle that passing trains running straight, easy for detaching and attaching operations, convenient for locomotives inbound and outbound to and from depot, less interference to operations in the marshalling station and less equipment and special persons needed, etc..

The transit yard in lateral type marshalling station should be set nearby the receiving-departure yard;the passing yard in mixed type and longitudinal type marshalling stations should be set nearby the departure yard;when there is only detaching operation conducted to transit trains without attaching, it may be set nearby the receiving yard adjacent to the locomotive depot.

The arrangements at the throat portion between transit yard and its adjacent receiving yard, departure yard or receiving-departure yard shall have interconnected routes.

In case of less passing trains,it may not set separate transit yard and the operations to trains shall be handled in the concerned yard.

7. 3. 3 The rear of the shunting yard in the marshalling station may be controlled in a centralized manner through the shunting route,if it is needed by operation.

When there is large marshalling operation volume in connection with multi-set trains, picking-up and dropping trains and transfer trains,it may be based on marshalling capacity and concrete conditions to set low-capacity hump or auxiliary shunting yard in the rear of the shunting yard,or set such equipment as herringbone track within the shunting yard or nearby its head portion.

7.3.4 In various marshalling stations,it shall connect partial tracks in the shunting yard with the main track in consideration of concrete conditions.

7. 3. 5 Marshalling-departure track should be set in a centralized manner on the tracks on the outer side of the shunting yard, its departure throat should have more parallel routes, for which it is to set up necessary protective equipment based on concrete conditions. 7.3.6 In the marshalling station with shunting yard and departure yard arranged longitudinally, between the turnout at the rear for track group composed of half number of tracks on each side of the shunting yard and the outmost turnout at entrance end of the departure yard, it may remain a length equal to half of effective length of the receiving-departure track, which may be shorter under difficult conditions.

7. 3. 7 In order to ensure that the angular wagon flow in bidirectional marshalling station can quickly transfer from the shunting yard of one system to the hump-front yard of anther system,it should set connecting track between the two systems, under the condition of heavier angular wagon flow,it may set turnaround track or interchange yard between the two systems.

Based on angular wagon flow, nature of marshalling station and concrete conditions and in combination of arrangement of approach line to/from the marshalling station, the corresponding system should be able to receive or dispatch reverse-directional trains for main angular wagon flow direction. • 34 •

7. 3. 8 Arrangement of locomotive equipment in marshalling station shall be determined according to layout diagram of marshalling station, locomotive operating conditions and local conditions through technical and economic comparisons.

The locomotive depot and yards in lateral type marshalling station shall be arranged longitudinally, when bidirectional receiving and departure yards are located on two sides of common shunting yard respectively.it should be set on hump end;the locomotive depot in unidirectional mixed type marshalling station should be set on the side nearby receiving yard against hump; the locomotive depot in unidirectional longitudinal type marshalling station should be set on the side nearby departure or receiving yard against hump for centralized arrival and departure, when circular arrival and departure is adopted, it should be set on the side nearby shunting yard against hump.

The locomotive depot in bidirectional marshalling station should be set between two systems and nearby the end of departure yard and transit yard with heavier wagon flow,on the other end it may set servicing equipment when it is necessary.

If there are more transit trains and locomotives non-inbound to depot for operation.it may arrange necessary servicing and other equipment nearby the passing yard through technical and economic comparison.

7. 3. 9 The vehicle depot in unidirectional marshalling station should be set nearby the end portion of the shunting yard or on the outer side of its main track; vehicle depot in bidirectional marshalling station shall be set between two systems and nearby the end portion of the shunting yard in major empty wagon direction system.

Repairing point should be set nearby the end portion of the shunting yard.

When it is to set vehicle depot and repairing point simultaneously, the two should be set in one place under permissible conditions.

7.3. 10 When marshalling station needs to supply ice or oil to insulated wagons to transfer,it shall set re-icing point or oil supplying point in a proper place.

The re-icing point in unidirectional marshalling station should be located on the outer side of the transit yard in main re-icing direction when the main task is to supply ice to transit trains;when the main tasks are wagons remarshalling and re-icing,it should be set by the side of shunting yard; where there are re-icing operations in two directions of bidirectional marshalling station, the re-icing point should be set between two systems. When it is to supply oil to mechanical insulated wagons on the side track of the receiving yard,receiving-departure yard or departure yard,it shall set vehicle passage on its outside. 7. 3.11 Cargo reloading and transshipment equipment should be set within freight yard nearby the marshalling station,in case of larger volume of operation or there is no freight yard nearby.it may set by the side of the shunting yard with car repair equipment. 7.3. 12 The freight yard and branch tracks with larger loading/unloading volumes should not be connected directly to the marshaling station with larger volumes of sorting and marshalling operations, when it is necessary to connect,it should set a separate yard in a

proper place or tracks are connected in station in a centralized manner, the track connecting

location between the said yard or station and marshalling station shall be able to reduce

crossing within the station and facilitate wagon placing-in and taking-out.

7. 3. 13 When there are operations to change water or supply water to 'wagons loaded with

fish larvae or domestic animals in marshalling station, hydrants shall be set in proper places

between tracks in corresponding yards respectively.

7. 3. 14 It shall set conveying facility for various documents between different yards in the

marshalling station as it is necessary for operation.
