3. 2. 11 The profile for approach line shall accord with the regulations for the main tracks in adjacent section. On the untwining track only for unidirectional running of trains,it may be set on the descending gradient which is larger than the limiting grade, the maximum grade for single locomotive traction shall be no more than 12%o,or no larger than 15%o under especially difficult conditions; it shall be no more than 30%o for auxiliary electric locomotive traction or no more than 25%o for auxiliary diesel locomotive. The gradient difference between adjacent grade sections shall accord with the requirements set forth in Table 3.2. 11.

When it is necessary to utilize this track for reverse running, it shall meet the requirements on the speed for the train to pass through this track through tractive computational check which shall not be lower than the computation speed.

3. 2. 12 The profile for tracks in all yards of a marshalling station and the related tracks shall accord with following requirements:

1 Hump front arriving yard should be set on the descending gradient track facing
hump;under difficult conditions,it may be set on upgrade track, the grade of both shall be
no more than l%o,which shall guarantee the starting conditions for train set humping and
backward traction and easy speed changing in break-up.

2 The profile of the shunting yard shall be determined by the speed control devices and control means used and technical requirements.

3 Arrival and departure yard and departure yard should be set on level track or set on a grade no more than l%o under difficult conditions.

4 When it is necessary for arrival and departure yard, departure yard and transit train yard to utilize main track to drop wagons detained for repair for service, the profile of main track shall satisfy the starting conditions for shunting of half train.

5 If larger works are caused when the said standards are adopted by receiving yard, arrival and departure yard and passing yard in a reconstructed station, with the approval from competent authorities, it may reserve the existing grade, but it shall take anti-glide safety measures.

6 The grade of the connecting line between yards within a marshalling station shall satisfy the demands on yard transfer of whole train.

3. 2. 13 The lead track for handling sorting and marshalling operations should be set on a descending gradient track no more than 2. 5%o facing the shunting track or a level track, but the grade of the gradient lead track shall be determined through calculations. The level shunting track shall be set on a descending gradient track facing shunt yard within throat area, but the grade shall be no more than 4%o.

The lead track in a freight yard or other plants or depots for handling train picking-up, dropping,placing-in and taking-out operations should be set on a gradient no more than l%o or may on a grade no more than 6%o under difficult conditions.

3. 2. 14 Goods loading and unloading track shall be set on a level track or may on a grade no more than l%o under difficult conditions, the handling track and funnel storehouse track for liquid goods and dangerous goods shall be set on a level track. The distance between the start/end point of goods handling track and start/end point of convex vertical curve shall be no less than 15 m.

3. 2. 15 In passenger station and passenger car servicing point, the track to stabilize passenger trains and individual coaches shall be set on a level track or may on a grade no more than l%o under difficult conditions.

3. 2. 16 Repair track in station, tank washing siding and tracks within building shall be set on a level line.

3. 2.17 The track to stabilize vehicle without locomotive and locomotive servicing track should be set on level line or may on a grade no more than l%o under difficult conditions.

3.2.18 Connecting line may be set on a grade, but the gradient shall meet the
requirements on train set weight determined by the tractive force of locomotive, which shall
be no more than 20%o.

3.2.19 The gradient for locomotive running track out of depot should be gentle, which
shall be no more than 12%o under difficult conditions;if there is a grade separation,it shall
be no more than 30%o on the track for the running of diesel and electric locomotives. At the
boundaries of station and depot, there shall have a locomotive standing place, the length of
which shall be no less than the length of two locomotives plus 10 m and its gradient shall
be no more than 2. 5%o.

Within a triangular track curve range, the gradient shall be no more than 12%o. Within the stub-end siding range of a triangle track,it shall be designed into level line or on an up-slope track no more than 5%o facing bumper post.

The gradient of waiting track may be treated according to requirements for stub-end siding triangle track.

There shall have a level grade section no less than 50 m long before the turntable. 3. 2. 20 The gradient for placing-in and taking-out track of passenger train stock should be gentle, which shall be no more than 12%o under difficult conditions or no more than 6%o when it is used also as lead track.

3. 2. 21 The gradient for ingress/egress track of vehicle depot shall meet the requirements • 14 •

on vehicle placing-in,taking-out and track transfer or shunting within the depot.

3. 2. 22 The track within maintenance base and maintenance workshop should be set on a

level line or on a grade no more than l%o under difficult conditions. The throat area of the

maintenance base may be set on a grade no more than 2. 5%o or on a grade no more than 6%o

under difficult conditions. The gradient for the throat area of maintenance workshop should

adopt the same standard as the throat area of a maintenance base, and it may be set on a

grade no more than 10%o under especially difficult conditions.

3.2. 23 The length and connection of station track grade section shall accord with

following requirements:

1 The grade section length of the approach line shall adopt the standard for the main track in adjacent section, and the grade section length of the untwining line shall be no less than 200 m under difficult conditions.

2 The grade section length for arrival and departure tack should be no less than those specified in Table 3.2. 23; for the station track to pass through trains, its grade section length shall be no less than 200 m. For the station track and depot siding not to run trains, it may adopt a grade section length no less than 50 m.but it shall ensure that the vertical curve sections are not overlapped.
