Brief Description of Technology
Since July, 1995, research on the Imaged-Based Code (IBC)-package SUPERLINAC has been carried out under the framework of ISTC Project #147, financed by the European Community and Japan. This unique package was generated for a high-current high-energy ion linac design using IBC-technology. SUPERLINAC can be used for linac accelerating/focusing channel calculations, as well as for decreasing linac cost and radiation level.
We now propose to develop IBC technology in the following three directions:
— Space Charge-Dominated (SCD) Beam Physics Study
— Best Version Selection under Different Criteria of Optimization
— Code Generation for Education and Training.
This will be a unique attempt to generate codes for the scientific visualization of physical processes during SCD-beam transport, focusing and acceleration needed for SCD beam physics studies. Because these processes are accompanied by a uniformly charged core formation, core-halo particle interactions must be studied. The general regularities in charge redistribution during SCD-beam transport, focusing and acceleration will be a benefit of the investigations.
