Laden's Valentine

A little boy comes home from first grade and tells his father that he learned about the history of Valentine's Day. "As Valentine's Day is for a Christian saint and we're Jewish," he asks, "will God get angry at me for giving someone a valentine?"

The father thinks for a moment and then says, "No, I don't think God would get mad. Who do you want to give a valentine to?"

"Osama Bin Laden," the boy says.

"Why Osama," his father asks in disbelief.

"Well," David says, "I thought that if a little American Jewish boy could have enough love to give Osama a valentine, he might start to think that maybe we're not all bad, and maybe start loving people a little bit. And if other kids saw what I did and sent valentines to Osama, he'd jump with joy. And then he'd go all over and tell everyone how much he loved them and how he didn't hate anyone anymore."

Father's heart swells and he looks at his son with newfound pride and joy.

A man walks into a post office one day and sees a middle-aged, balding man standing at the counter methodically placing "Love" stamps on bright pink envelopes with hearts all over them. He then takes out a perfume bottle and starts spraying scent all over them.

At this the guy responds, at the top of his lungs, "What do you mean? $300?"

Make each couple stand on the double page of a newspaper.

Start the music and ask them to dance on that piece of paper, without stepping their feet out of the paper even once.

If even one of the partner's feet steps out of the paper, the couple is out of the game.

Play the music for two minutes and then, stop it.

When the music stops, the paper is folded into half.

Now the couple has to dance on this folded sheet of paper without stepping out of the paper.

Again the music plays for two minutes and then, it is stopped.

Now, the paper is again folded into half and the music is played.

This continues till the time the paper is so small that the couple can dance only if one partner lifts up the other.

The couple that reaches the end of the game wins.

How to Play "Guess The Name"

Divide all the guests into two groups.

One person from any one of the groups has to come and enact the name of some famous personality associated with romance like Romeo, Juliet, etc.

Instead of a person, they can also enact some other thing associated with Valentine's Day like cupid, heart, roses, etc.

The members of his group have to guess the person or thing he/she is enacting.

Now, a person from the other group comes and the whole process is repeated.

The group that guessed the person or the thing right the maximum number of time, wins.

How to Play "Know Your Mate"

Have the females of each couple leave the room.

Then, the person who's hosting the party, along with the singles, prepares some questions to be asked to the male partners.

They have to give the same answer as their partner would have given.

The answers given by all the male partners are then noted down.

Now, the females come inside and the males leave the room.

The same questions are now asked to the females.

Again, the answers are noted down.

Now, the males are called inside and the answers of both the partners are matched.

The couple with the highest number of matched answers wins.

How to Play "Love Hunt"

This game is quite like a treasure hunt, where you keep the clues for the other person.

Plan a surprise for your partner like a movie, dinner at his/her favorite restaurant, a romantic dinner at your own place, a thing he/she wanted to buy for so long, etc.

Tell your partner that you have a surprise for him/her, but he/she will have to do a little hunt for that.

Prepare some notes with the clues.

Now give the first clue that leads him/her to the place where the next clue will be hidden and so on.

Make all the people present in the part sit in a circle.

Choose one person to play the part of the Cupid.

This person will be blindfolded and made to sit in the center of the group.

Now, the Cupid will select a valentine for him/her and take the valentine to the center to show everyone who the valentine is.

After this, the valentine will go back to sit at his/her original place.

The blindfold of the person will be removed and he will be given some clues as to who his/her valentine is.

If he/she guesses correct, he/she will get to play the cupid the next time and the valentine will become the person who has to guess.

However, if he/she is not able to guess correctly, he/she will continue to be the person who guesses till the guess turns out to be correct.

Give a piece of paper to each child

Ask them to write the word "Valentines Day" on the top of the sheet.

Now tell them to write as many words as possible from the letters of the word "Valentines Day" in the next ten minutes.

Assign points as per the number of alphabets used in each word. For example, a three lettered word gets three points, a four lettered word gets four and so on.

The child with the highest number of points wins the game.

Canada Post adds extra love to Valentine's Day

Canada Post has offered to add an extra touch to Valentine's Day cards and letters.

International Valentine's cards have been getting some extra romance from Canada Post.

The organization said they have received letters from across Canada as well as the U.S., China, Japan, Hungary, Switzerland and France to their post offices in Love, Saskatchewan and Saint-Valentin, Quebec.

They offer a unique cancel, which is an ink stamp that gets placed over the sender's original stamp essentially canceling out the stamp.

"For Love, Saskatchewan we created a special one," Spokesperson Anick Losier told CTV News.

The design for Love, SK was created by a postmaster in the small village in 1984.

The post office in the village has been expected to see thousands of extra letters at this time of year.

"You want to do something different," Losier explained.

"They want to show their loved ones they've done a little extra."

Many brides-to-be will also reroute their invitations through the post office, she added.

Losier said she has already been contacted by several romantics internationally wanting to find out how to add the extra touch to their Valentine's Day letters.

"We find it extremely endearing," she said.

Love, Saskatchewan has about 80 residents and is a 3 hour drive northeast from Saskatoon.
