TASK 1. Read and retell the text "The Institute of Psychology, History and Sociology"
The Institute of psychology, history and sociology was founded in July 5, 2004 as the result of reorganization of two faculties: socio-psychological and historical. It is headed by the candidate of philological sciences, professor Shaposhnikova Irina Vasilievna. Today, the institute is represented by five chairs which number five professors, twenty candidates of sciences, post-graduate students and teachers.
The chair of general and social psychology began its work in the Institute of psychology, history and sociology from September 2007. It is headed by the candidate of psychological sciences, the associate professor Savchenko O.V. The creative group of local psychologists is organized on the basis of methodical union of practical psychologists. There is a scientific research laboratory of the child development “Nadia” attached to the chair. A lot of urban and regional scientific practical seminars of psychologists and leading specialists, the training courses of effective parents and other meetings took place there in the Institute during the period of its existence.
The chair of practical psychology was created in 1983. The head of it is the candidate of psychological sciences, associate professor Tavrovetska N.I. The colleagues of this chair give some consultation to the students and realize psychological work, each ― in his/her direction.
The chair of social work and social pedagogy started to work in September, 22 in 1999. The head of it is the candidate of pedagogical sciences, the associate professor Korshun T.V. There is a student social organization which is oriented on the social help and protection of adolescents.
The chair of the world history and historiography was created in 2001 as a result of unification of two chairs ― the chair of the world history and the chair of social sciences, historiography and special historical disciplines. The head of it is the candidate of historical sciences, the associate professor Andreev V.M. The archeological laboratory is attached to this chair. Within the framework of the laboratory the problem group of the student-historians works under the guidance of V.P. Bilkova. The aims of investigation are the problems of archeology, history of Ancient Greece and Rome, numismatics.
The chair of the history of Ukraine and the methods of teaching is headed by the candidate of historical sciences, the associate professor Tsibulenko L.O. The up-to-date chair investigates the source and historiographical problems of regional history, actual problems of teaching methods of historical disciplines in the secondary schools as well as in the high ones.
The institute has quite substantial educational material basis. Four educational methodical cabinets, libraries, reading-rooms, computer class are at the students’ disposal.
