Предисловие

«Методические указания …» предназначены для студентов II курса отделения теологии факультета Немецкого языка. Их цель – организовать работу студентов при чтении на английском языке книги Джин Уэбстер «Длинноногий дядюшка».

Материал книги разделён на четыре части. Задания каждого из разделов включают рецептивный вокабуляр и упражнения, направленные на его усвоение и закрепление, а также на развитие рецептивных и продуктивных видов речевой деятельности.

Усвоение словаря и формирование умений и навыков речевой деятельности обеспечиваются разными видами упражнений, например, переводом предложений с русского языка на английский, перифразом, комментированием авторских идей, предложенными вопросами и проблемами для обсуждения, составлением диалогов, написанием сочинений (эссе).

Выполнение упражнений формирует базовые (лингвистические, прагматические) и основанные на них коммуникативные и межкультурные компетенции студентов.

1. courage, courageous - мужество, мужественный;

4. to accomplish one’s work - выполнить работу успешно (завершить работу);

5. to be a sunny soul - быть весёлым, жизнерадостным человеком;

6. episode - эпизод;

7. support (U) - поддержка; to support smb- поддерживать к-л;

8. to make a speech - произнести речь;

9. to ridicule smth, smb - высмеивать ч-л, к-л; ridiculous- смешной, нелепый;

10. to forgive (forgave, forgiven) smb smth - простить к-л ч-л; (He forgave her the awful things she said about him);

22. to try smth on - примерить ч-л; to put smth on- надеть ч-л;

23. impertinent - дерзкий, грубый;

24. it isn’t a very polite thing to say - это невежливо;

25. desirable - желательный; it is most desirable that he should do it - он непременно должен это сделать; desire (C,U)- сильное желание; a desire for smth, to do smth; a desire for knowledge- жажда знаний;

26. to be (get) educated - получить образование;

27. to own smth - владеть ч-л; to be the owner of smth- быть владельцем ч-л;

28. blank - чистый, незаполненный, пустой; Write your name in the blank space at the top of the page.

29. generous (-ly) - великодушный, щедрый; to be generous with one’s money - быть щедрым, не скупиться на деньги;

30. ignorance of, to be ignorant of smth - невежество в ч-л, быть невежественным в ч-л.
