INTERNET AND MODERN LIFE

The Internet has already entered our ordinary life. Everybody knows that the Internet is a global computer network, which embraces hundred of millions of users all over the world and helps us to communicate with each other. The Internet is very helpful, because it's a huge database of knowledge, from the pictures of family trips to an analysis of quantum mechanics.

The history of Internet began in the United States in 1969. It was a military experiment, designed to help to survive during a nuclear war, when everything around might be polluted by radiation and it would be dangerous for any living being to get out anywhere to get some information.

Invention of modems, special devices allowing your computer to send the information through the telephone line, has opened doors to the Internet for millions of people. St is clear that the accurate number of users can be counted only approximately. Nobody knows exactly how many people use the Internet today, because there are hundred of millions of users and their number is

growing.

The list of services the internet proposes today is huge and it's continuously growing. Nowadays the most popular Internet service is communicating in social networks. People can do it either they are at home or in the internet clubs or at work. Most young people use social networks every day, communicating with their friends and making new ones. They share interesting news, music, videos, experience with each other, etc. Adults receive the possibility to restore the connection with their classmates and old friends they haven't seen for ages. Even in very important business negotiations and teleconferences this way of connection is often used. You don't have to go out or spend money on your mobile phone, just enter the net and you may have a possibility even to see and hear your interlocutor, even if he or she is on the other part of the planet at the moment. The other advantages are surely the speed of the connection and its cheapness. It is great that nowadays every person may have the internet with himself - in his mobile phone - with all modern possibilities.

However, there are some problems. The most important problem is security. When you send an e-mail, your message can travel through many different networks and computers. Because of this sometimes the important data may be changed or even lost along the route. Another big and serious problem of the net is control. There is no effective control in the Internet, because a huge amount of information is circulating through the net. It is like a tremendous library and market together. But still everyone should have the Internet because of Its near instantaneous communication and huge wealth of knowledge.
