Depression at teenagers.

 

In the recent research which has been carried out by the medical center of queen Elizabeth in Western Australia at 400 younger teenagers aged from 10 till 14 years, at 10% the clinical depression was recognized, and more than a half of children were estimated by physicians as inclined to a depression in the future. Depressive teenagers considered that the happiness is reached only by glory, money and beauty. Happy teenagers say that the satisfaction life depends on the successful personal relations and statement of the worthy purposes. What is the teenage depression? Why it arises and how to fight against it?

The teenage depression is not simply bad mood is a serious problem which influences all aspects of life of the teenager. The teenage depression can lead to problems of the house and at school, drug addiction, to disgust for, even to violence or suicide. But parents, teachers and friends have many ways when they can help to cope with a depression.

There are many wrong ideas of a teenage depression. At teenage age many children are quite aggressive, it is difficult to communicate with them, they want to be independent. Teenagers often have differences of mood and they happen sad. But the depression is something another. The depression can destroy essence of the identity of the teenager. Causes an insuperable sadness, despair or anger.

The teenage depression around the world increases, and all of us realize it more, looking at our children or their friends. The depression strikes blow to mentality of the teenager much more often than the majority of people thinks. And though the teenage depression very well gives in to treatment, experts say that only in one of five cases of a depression teenagers receive the help.

 

Symptoms of a teenage depression.

 

Teenagers face a set of cases of pressure from adults, beginning from estimates at school before control of mother and the father. And at this time in their organism there passes a hormonal storm which does mentality of the teenager even more vulnerable and fragile, than earlier. At teenage age children start defending the independence furiously. For them there is the drama that, on what the adult only will sadly smile. As adults got used to see teenagers often in the excited condition, it isn't always easy to them to distinguish a depression both whims inherent in teenagers and mood differences. If you noticed these symptoms at the teenager, most likely, at him a depression.

Symptoms of a depression at teenagers.

· Grief or hopelessness for a long time

· Irritability, anger or hostility

· Tearfulness

· Refusal of friends and family

· Loss of interest to any activity

· Loss of appetite and bad dream

· Concern and excitement

· Feeling of own otioseness and fault

· Absence of enthusiasm and motivation

· Fatigue or lack of energy

· Difficulties with concentration of attention

· Thoughts of death or suicide

 

Difference between a teenage and adult depression.

 

The depression at teenagers differs from a depression at adults. The following symptoms of a depression meet at teenagers, than at adults more often.

 

Irritability, anger or mood differences - as it was noted above, irritability, instead of the grief inherent in adults, often prevails at depressive teenagers. The depressive teenager can be quarrelsome, hostile, easily is upset or to be inclined to fits of anger.

 

Inexplicable pains. Depressive teenagers often complain of physical illnesses, such as headaches or belly-aches. If careful medical examination doesn't establish the medical reasons of these pains, it can testify to a depression.

 

Extreme sensitivity to criticism. Depressive teenagers suffer from feeling of own inferiority that does them extremely vulnerable for criticism, rejection and failures. It becomes especially serious problem at school when progress of the child sharply decreases.

 

Short circuit in itself, leaving from people (but not from all). Though adults, as a rule, too become reserved when they have a depression, teenagers usually maintain the friendly relations, but limit this circle to several electees. Nevertheless, teenagers can communicate with a depression much less, than earlier, almost to cease to communicate with parents or to start walking with other company.
