Our community projects

It was our after class activity in January.
We decided to use partnership method in our courses, and helped our Access students to become our partners for one lesson, to become real teachers. So we asked the administration of school 5 to have a lesson with kids from 1st grade.
We decided to teach them a song but in a fun and interesting way.
So beforehand we had a special teacher training for our Access students, step by step we explained them how to hold the lesson and teach the song and practiced a lot.
The lesson was in a very comfortable room. First, we came in and greeted the children, then Access students divided the kids into 3 groups, in each group there were "Access Teachers". Then they got acquainted with each other in groups. After that "Access Teachers" told a little piece of Red Riding Hood tale and said that they were going to have fun in granny's yard.
Then "Access Teachers" learned new words from the young children's picture dictionary,

the kids repeated the words in different voices and it was real fun. Later one of the " Access Teachers" divided the children into 2 groups and they played a game to practice new words.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XWN1k8Xl40

After the game they returned to their previous groups and role-played the dialogues using new words. Later "Access Teachers taught the the gestures to the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2Y8wRZcNV0

It was fantastic!!! The kids were lovely. Now, "Access Teachers" understood that it's a hard work to teach others and they really respect this profession and enjoyed teaching their little friends.

Cinema goers

This week was a week before St. Valentine's Day, so we decided to have our after class activity. This time we went to the cinema. It was on Sunday. It was a real fairy-tale about true love, not only to a man or a woman, to everything, birds, flowers, trees, rats....After such movies students and adults start again to believe in magic and miracles, and begin to dream about fairy things. After the movie we had a lovely discussion and ate sweets and cakes. And it was very pleasant that Peace Corps volunteer Laura Ludwig was as always with us even on her day off.
