On Thursday (27.03) Access students, Ron Reeves and Katie Godwin visited the orphanage. Before going there, we asked the students to bring some clothes or toys for the kids from the orphanage. Thanks to Access support and help we bought fruits (apples, tangerines), different candies (gumdrops, jelly tots, lollipops, and fruit-drops), cookies and biscuits. When we came, the administrator allowed us to come only 3 persons, because it’s not common to visit kids in big groups. But then they allowed all of us to come only for 3-5 minutes. We made a photo, left clothes, toys and food, because they wanted to check everything is ok and clean. And they didn’t allow us to give the kids presents, because they wanted to divide them between everybody. At the end of our visit, the administrator told us: “Thank you very much for your help”.
Then we all walked in the yard of the orphange,
we were really sad, especially because of one little girl who started to cry when we came. we were there only several minutes, but it one of the most emotional minutes in our life. We feel so sorry for those kids, it was very happy and sad experience at the same time. In any case thank you for our ACCESS program, it makes our life brighter and changes each of us a lot for better
Home visits
ACCESS IS FRIENDSHIP
One of our friends from program has health problems. She has got operation. That’s why we decided to visit her. The atmosphere was really great. We told her what we did at our Access classes. And we retold some information about Black History Month. Vladislava was very happy to see us. We drank tea and were very glad that our attention to her helped her to be happier.
In the end of February OUR friend from the USA came for 2 months. His name is Ronnald Lee Reeves. So he comes to our classes to help us. Students are very happy that Ron and Katie Gowin are here.
At one of the weekends one of the students invited all to her house for a dinner. It wasn't a lesson, we became friends here, so it was just a friendly visit. Ron and Katie also joined us. Anna's parents were very hospitable, her mum cooked a wonderful soup with meat. Everything was very delicious. After that we watched a wonderful movie IN FRONT OF THE CLASS. Now it is one of my favourite films. "Front of the Class" is based on the true story of Brad Cohen -- played in the movie by Jimmy Wolk -- who, "after being challenged by Tourette's syndrome from a very young age, defies all odds to become a gifted teacher.

After the movie we had a great discussion on the problem, that this movie raises, because most Access students have health problems. They liked very much and become very positive about their future.
Then we drank tea with cake. Then there was a very special moment. We held our hands and Ron told a pray for peace in Ukraine, then Anna's dad (who is a priest) took a floor and prayed in Russian. It united us so much. I will always remember that moment.
Here's a nice slide show about Ukraine, that Ron sent to me.

"Access is Family!"
Do you know the best way to study?
We know. You should feel comfortable and relaxed, you and your teachers should smile, you should be friendly and it's good when the atmosphere in the class is positive. We have all that thanks to ACCESS program, so we enjoy our studying English and American culture, because we feel like home, we feel like we're FAMILY.
And who knows better way to study rather than in a family circle... ACCESS, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
We are different pieces. Each one is very unique. When we come to our classes, and study together, work in groups. Access unites us and all the pieces become a part of one unique puzzle called "Access ''.
" ACCESS IS PUZZLE"
When you do something it's very important to think positive. We made a collage with our dreams and goals. We hang it in our classes to look at it and materialize all these things in our life. Each dream is a little piece of puzzle and when all the pieces are together we get a really happy life
It seems that the USA government has a magic wand and with its help created this great Access Program. In Ukraine Lilia and Jerry are the main Fairies, as they started our program here and take care about it, also we have fairy moms, our Access teachers, Julie and Tonia, and of course usual Ukrainian students, who with the beginning of this program turned to Princes and Princesses with lots of OPPORTUNITIES. Celebrating this Christmas was amazing and unusual, we not only spoke and watched videos about it in the USA, we wrote letters with our wishes and gave them to SANTA!!!!!! For us it's a real fairy tale and each lesson we write down our story to our Access Book, and each story is special, each lesson is great, each day being in this program is a Fairy Tale....
Thanks to all!!!
Access is FRIENDS!
Access program is little world where you can not only learn history of the USA and communicate with native speakers and also find amazing people. These new friends always will help and support you; they never leave each other in a trouble. Of course, we all are different, but we are friendly and united!
