She was beside herself with anger: (1) to have danced with Him, to have been charmed by Him and to have forgotten his telephone number. She had nothing (2) to do but wait until HE himself finds her. At the thought that HE might (3) be enjoying himself at another party with another girl she shuddered. She couldn’t make (4) herself sleep; neither could she do anything but (5) listen to the music in complete darkness. In the morning she woke up (6) to discover that she was head over heels in love. She decided (7) not to share her new feelings with anybody. (8) To keep it secret even from her best friend made (9) her feel thrilled. (10) To write about her love in her diary seemed the only reasonable thing (11) to do. She started (12) to describe their meeting and a few-words meaningless conversation during the dance, their long meaningful silence afterwards. She was unable (13) to think about dots and commas and her writing turned into a mere stream of consciousness, all about HIM. His voice. His eyes. His strong hands. No one has ever made her feel what she was feeling now. (14) His beautiful name seemed to sound like music – Va-dim…
It was impossible (15) to follow the teacher’s explanation for “chemistry is the last thing (16) to pay attention to when you are in love” she thought. She went on (17) to dream about their unexpected(sudden) meeting somewhere in the park near the pond, at the cinema or at any other romantic place.
By the end of the second lesson (18) she turned out to be exhausted and hungry. “I must (19) eat something (20) just to keep me going …” she decided and rushed to the canteen on the wings of love…
She was so awkward (21) as to push someone’s lunch tray and splash the coffee at one’s tie and shirt. When she turned round (22) to apologize she saw HIM, and she saw (23) HIM turn green with anger. HE looked funny, (24) to put it mildly. And (25) HE seemed not to recognize her!?! Life is so prosaic …
She didn’t apologize for it was HE (26) to blame for the “accident”.
