Gea Foods is a Dutch company that makes ready-made bio dishes. These are sold mainly in Gea Foods restaurants, as well as select supermarkets. Their products are provided / targeted at young people who want a healthy lifestyle. Gea Salads were launched / produced a year ago in Holland and Germany. They were described / advertised on TV and in health magazines with the slogan / sentence 'Fresh, natural, healthy and ready'.
Gea salads are sold in beautiful transparent plastic dishes and are about 20 percent more expensive than most ready-made salads sold by their competitors / retailers. After a few months, it was clear that the product launch / lifecycle was a failure. Sales were 70 percent above / below forecast, and very few people knew about Gea Salads. The Marketing Department held / made a meeting to find out what was wrong with their marketing mix / mixture and to decide how to improve sales.
