A good portion of oil for a salad is around 2 tablespoons, while 1 tablespoon may be adequate for melting over steamed vegetables. This also varies by size and activity level; being a larger and/or more active person will warrant additional fat intake and, coincidentally, adding fat to meals is one of the easiest ways to add good calories and satiety if you do need more to eat.

However, you may also discover that a basic Paleo approach works well for you without further limitations or omissions.
