Candidate 3.

I: Now let me tell you a few things about the job. Youknow the salary already. We pay a bonus twice a year and we give three weeks' holiday a year. Office hours are nine to five thirty and we work a five-day week. Do you have any questions?

C: Er, yes. Well, I insist on a doctor's certificate if staff is away for longer than a couple of days.

Interviewer A: Miss Key is still my first choice, so could you give her a ring and I'll offer her the job. If she accepts I'll write to the others straight away so as not to keep them waiting.

Interviewer B: Are you going to take up her references?

Interviewer A: No, there's no need to do that. I'm pretty sure we can trust her. If she accepts I'll write her a letter of appointment.

Эталон ответа:

I’m a student of St Petersburg’s college of Economic and Management. There are many specialties at our college: Economic Departments of Accounting, Finance, Management, the Real Estate and Property Relations, Commerce and IT specialties. I study at the Real Estate and Property Relations specialty. I’m a sophomore student. Our students are trained to be specialists for different branches of our economy.

At our college we study many economic subjects, such as Economic Theory, Economics of Organization, Accounting and Taxation, Finance, Judicial protection of land property rights, Statistics, Marketing, Legal Support of Professional Activity and Money Circulation and Credit. As for me, I like all professional subjects at college as they are taught efficiently and clearly. I’m learning to carry out cadastral registration and plan; provide cartographic-geodesic support of land and property relations; I can evaluate land plots and real estate objects; organize and control of entrepreneurial activity in the sphere of land and property relations.

After leaving the college, I'm going to be an expert who will assess land plots and real estate objects. I’ll provide the management of real estate objects and cadastral relations. Perhaps, I’ll work in the departments of Federal Service of State Registration and deal with cadastral registration and cartography; maybe work in real estate agencies, providing inventory of real estate objects in business centers and warehouse complexes.

I hope I will get a sense of security and find a proper, well-paid job and earn lots of money, because leavers of professional training colleges are in demand nowadays in our society. I hope so. And besides, studying at college helps understand better my own inclinations and interests and gives me deeper understanding of the theory related to the career I want to follow.

Of course I must aware my strengths and weaknesses. As for the first, I work very hard and I’m very motivated so I’ll get on well with my colleagues. My weakness is probably that I’m a bit disorganized and tend to arrive late for meetings. I’m sure that my knowledge of English will make me more advantage than the others. I also tell my future employers that I know the word of processing, typing and have some computer skills. In a two – year time I may be having a driving license as well. I hope that they will give me a job as a trainee and for some time I’ll be the junior person in a company. In the beginning I won’t earn very much but they will give me an organized help and advice. I may be as well sent on training courses.

It’s a good idea to have flexible working hours when the employees decide when they need to arrive at work. I’d like to work in such environment where there are plants instead of walls in the office, so bosses can’t shut themselves away from everyone else. And workers are free to decorate their workplace as they want. As for uniforms, some people will be allowed to wear suits and others wear T – shirts. I strongly believe that the way you look affects the way you think, feel and act. Also I think that if people are wearing their own clothes, then they are more relaxed, less stressful, and they’ll feel more involved in their work.

Moreover, to reduce stress at work the company will provide a relaxing room with chair massage and other therapies. If you get angry, the stress goes into your neck and shoulders. This can mean that you don’t work well. Also the company will let its employees take holidays for at least thirty days a year.

I’d not want to work under pressure, so the most important thing for me at my ideal working environment will be ‘peer pressure’ that makes everyone work hard for everyone else. If someone isn’t doing his job well, the others will not allow the situation to continue. I’m sure that my company won’t hire the employees at random, so they’ll recruit only worthy workers so that to keep a better staff.

But as for my boss, I want him to be confident, as good at persuading people as well at solving problems and have a sense of humour. And what is more, he should have much energy and enthusiasm. I’m sure he will have many ideas for the business and involve other people with their ideas too. Our work will never get boring because we will change things regularly, so the prospects of the company will be good.

Of course, these are my visions of what my job and career will be like after I finish my college and I hope that everything will be OK.
