q How did you select the volunteer? (Is the volunteer a member of your organisation, are you going to involve the volunteer in your current activities, did you interview the volunteer by phone or face-to-face...)

I know the candidate during 5 years old, at the beginning as a volunteer then as an active member and now as international projects coordinator.

q What kind of theoretical preparation will you provide the volunteer with? (Insurance, rights and responsibilities of the volunteer, SO and HO tasks, duties of the tutor of the project...).

Volunteer will be provided with pre-departure training organized by SALTO EECA.

q What kind of emotional preparation will you provide the volunteer with? (Cultural shock, conflict resolution, expectations, contact with ex-volunteers, keeping the volunteer motivated...)

The policy of LYVS is to prevent possible crisis during the EVS. One of the members of LYVS is a psychologist who has experience of working with young people, we have prepared list of possible risks and discuss possible ways of prevention (problem connected with cultural shock, nostalgia). The volunteer also receive information on emergency numbers in Spain

q What kind of formation will you provide the volunteer with? (Languages, cultural formation about your own country and the hosting country?)

LYVS organizes intercultural evenings, cultural presentations and games for youth. As there are many groups leaving for international youth exchanges and European voluntary service to other countries, volunteers will be able to participate in their preparation for the trip and share the experience of cultural differences that s/he faced when coming and living in Spain, give some tips for interacting in international groups and surviving in foreign countries.

q What kind of support do you give the volunteers during their EVS? And afterwards?

During the EVS volunteer will be regularly contacted by the SO coordinator.

For all our volunteers we organize final evaluation meeting as a tool, which can help volunteers to integrate back to the local society and to plan their future in their home country. We also offer volunteers to start their own projects in LYVS, providing a chance to use their skills and competencies which the volunteer gets during the EVS.
