In a big thick green forest there is a wise Owl named Olly who can say everything what will be in the nearest future. But she can predict only using the rules of The Future Simple Tense. And once her friend Rabbit named Robby decided to visit the Owl’s home, which is her massive oak tree.

Robby: Hello, Olly! How are you?

Olly: Hello, Robby! I’m as fit as a fiddle. It’s getting dark now, so I’ll turn on

the light, and it’s rather cold here, so I’ll close the hollow if you don’t

mind.

Robby: I don’t mind, moreover, I agree with you, it’s really cold and dark here.

You’ve used Future Simple in your statement.

How can you name the rule of using this tense?

Olly: Yes, of course. It is a delicious taken at the moment of speaking

or so-called on-the-spot decision.

Olly: Well, I’m afraid it will rain tomorrow morning, but I expect the sky will

I can put in the following list: hopes, fears, threats, offers, promises,

warnings, predictions, requests, comments, especially with the verbs like:

expect, hope, believe, I'm sure, I'm afraid, probably etc.

Robby: I see, I’ll remember that. Oh, just look! What a beautiful couple of loving

bears Judy and Jake. They will probably merry soon, won’t they?

Olly: It was an action or prediction which may happen in the future to your

mind. But don’t you know they are already married and their baby-bear

will be two next month. This is an action which we cannot control and

will inevitably happen.

Robby: You are fully informed. I didn’t know that.

Olly: By the way, several squirrels and hedgehogs will probably move to our

forest as we have a friendly atmosphere.

Robby: Oh, that’s great, are you sure?

Olly: No, this refers to the things we are not sure about or haven’t decided to do

yet. But we really hope so.

Robby: I was glad to meet you. You’ve told me so many interesting events.

Mindy is doing her make-up. Sarah is running up to her.

Mindy: Sarah, don't bother your elder sister! Can’t you see I’m busy now?

Rayan: Hi! How are you? I missed you much!

Mindy: I’m great, thanks, and what about you?

Rayan: I’m fine, thanks. How are your parents? By the way, where are they?

Mindy: They are great. They are staying at the Park Hotel at present as they

have a vacation now.

Sarah (to herself): This is a temporary situation.

Mindy: And what about your parents?

Rayan: Well, they are looking for a better job now, but everything is all right.

Sarah (to herself): This is an action happening at or around the moment of

speaking.

Rayan (looking at Sally): And how is your little sister?

Mindy: She is always interrupting and disturbing me, you know, but I love her

much!

Sarah (to herself): Oh, it’s about me! This is a repeated action with «always»

expressing annoyance or criticism.

Rayan: It’s so sweat! Look, I’m visiting a National Art Gallery tonight.

Sarah (to herself): This is a fixed arrangement in the near future.

Mindy: Of course, I’ll go with you! Besides, I’m becoming more interested in art

now.

В одном маленьком старинном английском городке жили два приятеля: булочник и садовник. Булочника звали A, садовника-An. Некоторое время жил в этом городе музыкант по имени The [Dq], или как ласково называл его садовник, [DJ],

Музыкант ходил по улицам и играл на флейте. Он часто останавливался перед домом булочника. Заканчивая одну из своих чудесных мелодий, он подходил к булочнику, рядом с которым находилось большое блюдо с румяными пирожками, и, низко кланяясь, говорил:

"Give me, A, pie, please".

Булочник выбирал самый большой пирожок и, подавая его музыканту, говорил:

"Take, The [Dq], pie. Your song is nice today".

Потом музыкант шел к дому садовника и играл на флейте в саду, среди благоухающих роз.

А после он подходил к садовнику, вежливо кланялся и говорил, поглядывая на стоящую рядом с ним корзину:

"Give me, An, apple, please".

Садовник выбирал самое большое, самое красивое яблоко и, подавая его музыканту, говорил:

"Take, The [DJ], apple. Your song is wonderful today".

Но настал день, когда музыкант ушел из этого городка. Он отправился в другой город, где его песен еще никто не слышал. А люди не могли забыть о нем и в память о музыканте и его добрых приятелях стали добавлять к некоторым словам небольшие словечки: A, An, The [Dq] и The [DJ]. Так в английском языке появились четыре артикля.

Что нужно понять в этой сказке? Когда музыкант просил у булочника пирожок, то речь шла о любом из лежащих на блюде. В этом случае употреблялся неопределенный артикль а.

Со словом "apple" в той же ситуации употребляется артикль "an". Булочник выбирал один пирожок и угощал музыканта. В этом случае употребляется определенный артикль the [Dq]. Перед словом "apple" он читается как [DJ].

Слово "pie" начинается с согласной буквы, поэтому мы употребили артикли "a" и "the" [Dq].

Первая буква слова "apple" гласная, здесь ставятся артикли "an" и "the" [DJ]

Сказка о том, как словам раздали помощников

Когда-то давным-давно в Королевстве Английских Слов решили каждому существительному раздать по местоимению. Если существительному лень становиться в строку, он посылал вместо себя своего слугу - местоимение. Предметам дали в услужение местоимение it. Теперь вместо того, чтобы говорить The apple is yellow (Яблоко желтое) можно было сказать It is yellow (Оно желтое).

Людям и животным хотели раздать местоимения he и she. Но эти местоимения оказались привередливыми и взбунтовались: «Не хотим мы обслуживать животных, от них слишком много шума и грязи. Мы согласны помогать только людям». Местоимение it пожало плечами, оно было добрым и не таким привередливым. «Давайте, – говорит – я буду служить животным». И стали говорить так: She is ten (Ей десять лет) вместо The girl is ten (Девочке десять лет), He is tall (Он высокий) вместо The boy is tall (Мальчик высокий), но It is green (Она зеленая) вместо The frog is green (Лягушка зеленая).
