The Business Plan

Now draw up the final business plan. This final plan is a team product. Ensure that ‘third parties’ will get a good picture of the entrepreneurs, the company, the envisaged market and the operating procedure. Also give a clear description of the financial aspects of the enterprise.

The business plan will have to meet the following requirements:

· a front page with a title, a picture, the names of the members of the project team, the date and the name of the tutor;

· table of contents.

· a clear and legible layout;

· checked spelling;

· use of headers and footers;

· numbered pages;

· a table, graph or plan where these are requiredand where they serve to illustrate the text;

· list of sources (articles, books, Internet addresses);

The final business plan also needs to be handed in, in digital form, to make it possible to check the contents in Ephorus in order to rule out plagiarism.

Final presentation

At the conclusion of the project, each team has to give a presentation, followed by a defence of their business plan. Both will be judged by a competent jury. You will get further details of the programme towards the end of the project.

The presentation has to meet the following requirements:

· Must be around 6 minutes;

· Must be a sales presentation (sales pitch) to sell your product to the audience OR a presentation for prospective investors

Chapter 4 - Assessment criteria

Attendance

As the project has obligatory attendance, there are serious consequences to not being present during meetings and training activities.

Your grade for the business plan (exam code ABPBSP1C.5) is made up of an individual grade for the peer assessment and a group grade for the business plan and presentation. Evaluations will be held during the process in order to keep track of individual performance.

Peer assessment

Write an individual report on the assessment of your fellow students based on the criteria that you can find in Appendix 1. In this appendix there is also a form that you have to fill in. Have a second meeting with the group in which you discuss the reports and the forms. After the meeting, hand in the forms and reports to your tutor.

Final grade

The final grade of your business plan is composed as follows:

1. Peer assessment: 20%

2. Business Plan (consisting of marketing and finance plan that both weigh 50%): 80%

3. Presentation: can lower, neutralize or increase the intermediate grade (ranging from -1 to +1)

For example: peer assessment grade is 7.6, business plan grade is 7.0, impression of presentation was good.

7.6 x 20% = 1.5

7.0 x 80% = 5.6

Intermediate grade: 7.1

Presentation: +0.5

Final grade BSP = 7.6

The scores of your fellow students and the opinion of the BSP tutor.

Assessment criteria of business plan:

They can be divided in the assessment criteria of the marketing plan and the assessment criteria of the finance plan. The assessment criteria of the marketing plan can be found in appendix 4. The assessment criteria of the finance plan can be found in appendix 5.

Assessment criteria of presentation:

The presentation must ‘reach / move / inspire / enthuse / convince / motivate’ the jury.

Remember:

An important element in the assessment is the working of the team. Teams that work professionally and smoothly will be rewarded. It is vital that all team members contribute to the end result and therefore a lot of energy will go into making the team work. Any decision made to change the team, will have to be discussed with the project tutor.
