Not so long ago coal was very popular because it replaced wood as the main source of fire. Petroleum was used instead of whale oil. In the 19- th century thousands of whales were killed for whale oil. They could disappear at all.

But nowadays mankind is aware of pollution caused by petroleum and coal. That is why people are looking for new kinds of energy.

Alternative energy is energy that comes from natural sources. It is an alternative to traditional fossil fuels. This energy is renewable and never can be limited.

 

There are many different types of alternative energy sources used around the world. The specific types depend generally upon the landscape and the climate of the area. Solar energy, wind energy, energy, geothermal energy, and water-based energy sources are all very commonly used. Alternative energy does not pollute the environment and is cheaper than other kinds of energy.
