2. Get ready for a vocabulary test.

3. Write: a) the evaluation of that incident ("stunt") in terms of your moral values; b) your prediction of how the events will go (150 words).

– the Waldorf-Astoria (in New York);

– American holidays.

 

SCENT OF A WOMAN (Guide 2)

1. VOCABULARY:

2. Make sure you know the meaning of the following words and expressions:

II. Look through the script and comment on the meaning of the underlined phrases.

III. Analyze the linguistic means used by Col. Slade in his speech. Pay special attention to the following:

Who is (are) the addressee(s) of his speech?

Does he use appeals in his speech?

Why would he swear so much?

What are the phonetic peculiarities of his speech?

IV. Give a short summary of the Colonel's address.
