1. Если глагол оканчивается на немое e, то оно опускается перед суффиксом –ing: Give – giving, close – closing   2. Если глагол оканчивается на согласный, которому предшествует краткий ударный гласный, то конечный согласный удваивается перед суффиксом –ing: Run – running, forget – forgetting   3. Если глагол оканчивается на букву l, то она удваивается, если ей предшествует краткий гласный, как ударный, так и безударный: Expel – expelling, travel – travelling   4. Глаголы die, lie, tie образуют Participle I (форму с суффиксом ing) следующим образом: Dying, lying, tying.

The Present Continuous Tense употребляется для выражения:   1. Длительного действия, совершающегося в момент речи: Where are the children? They are watching TV. 2. Для длительного действия, совершающегося в настоящий период времени (в широком смысле) Now we are studying the Present Continuous Tense. 3. Будущего действия, главным образом с глаголами движения come, leave, start, arrive, etc. They are leaving in a few days. 4. Постоянного процесса. В этих случаях часто употребляются наречия always, constantly, ever. The earth is always moving. The sun is constantly shining there. 5. Действия, которые представляются как постоянный процесс, хотя в реальности таковыми не являются. Употребление Present Continuous придают определенную эмоциональную окраску высказыванию: She is always complaining! They are always quarreling!
