The comments were made on Friday as Rosneft held talks on the development of the strategic cooperation with China in Beijing
"The People’s Republic of China and Chinese oil and gas companies are Rosneft’s most important partners in the areas of industrial cooperation, supplies and financing,” said Rosneft head, Igor Sechin.
“Rosneft welcomes the interest of the Chinese companies in extending cooperation in the upstream sphere. The company's priority is to expand the scope and broaden the geographic reach of the cooperation with Chinese partners and develop new partnership areas"
The comments were made on Friday as Rosneft held talks on the development of the strategic cooperation with China in Beijing.
Sechin met with the vice premier of China, Zhang Gaoli, chairman of the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Zhou Jiping, and chairman of Sinopec, Fu Chengyu.
“The parties confirmed that the cooperation between both countries and companies is of a long-term strategic nature and does not depend on external factors or external environment,” Rosneft said in a statement.
Russia’s European and North American oil and gas partners have had to scale operations and renege on agreements in order to comply with Western sanction against Russia following the crisis in Ukraine.
Cooperation between Rosneft and CNPC has been steadily developing since 2009.
“Joint production projects with Sinopec have delivered good results. Cooperation in crude oil supplies is a promising area for the development of the partnership between Rosneft and Sinopec. Special attention was paid to the prospect of the transition to payments in national currencies under long-term supply contracts,” the statement said.
A joint Rosneft-ExxonMobil project begins surveying arctic sites
Aerial gravity-magnetic surveys began at the Yuzhno-Chukotsky License Area in the eastern arctic to establish the field’s subsurface structure. Rosneft and ExxonMobil have agreed to a framework for jointly exploring six license areas in the Chukchi and the Laptev Seas.
Rosneft is moving ahead with the surveys in keeping with all the Russian environment protection requirements. Aerial gravity-magnetic surveys do not engender any negative environmental impact. RN-Shelf Far East, a Rosneft subsidiary, is in charge of managing the said operations
Aerial gravity-magnetic surveys began at the Yuzhno-Chukotsky License Area in the eastern arctic to establish the field’s subsurface structure. Rosneft and ExxonMobil have agreed to a framework for jointly exploring six license areas in the Chukchi and the Laptev Seas, namely the Ust-Lensky, Ust-Oleneksky, Anisinsko-Novosibirsky, Yuzhno-Chukotsky, and Severo-Vrangelevsky 1 and 2 areas. Three airplanes carrying magnetometric and gravimetric equipment will by the end of 2014 survey all the six license areas with a total area of 440,000 square meters.
Aerial gravity-magnetic surveying is an efficient method to study subsurface structures of oil and gas basins and foreruns massive seismic exploration. Equipment mounted on an aerial vehicle records the intensity and direction of geomagnetic and gravity fields related to subsurface rocks in the area in question. Such surveys can be performed through ice without having to bring in survey vessels which helps significantly accelerate the process.
Rosneft is moving ahead with the surveys in keeping with all the Russian environment protection requirements. Aerial gravity-magnetic surveys do not engender any negative environmental impact. RN-Shelf Far East, a Rosneft subsidiary, is in charge of managing the said operations.
Rosneft was awarded the licenses to explore and develop hydrocarbons in the Ust-Lensky, Ust-Oleneksky, Anisinsko-Novosibirsky, Yuzhno-Chukotsky, and Severo-Vrangelevsky 1 and 2 areas in 2013.
The license areas have a total area of 440,000 square meters. Projected recoverable reserves as estimated by the Company are 7,233mln tons of oil and 6,709bcm of gas.
