This work is the transliteration of Books I and II of the Qulasta: The Mandaean

Liturgical Prayer Book, which have been published in the Mandaic script.

Transliteration offers another avenue for researchers to study Mandaic,

particularly those not accustomed to the Mandaic script and who may find the

English character friendlier.

We have followed the same transliteration system as the one used for the

Transliterated Ginza Rba, which in-turn is principally the same as that used by

Drower, Macuch and others for almost half a century previous to our work.

We have included, for your convenience, a table that shows clearly and

graphically the transliteration system employed here, and elsewhere throughout

our publications, and thus provide an easy reference to the Mandaic character

and its English equivalent.

Our aim in producing this book, as with previous and future publications, is to

preserve the Mandaic language and Mandaic literature. We ultimately hope that

Mandaic will one day be on the subject list of most university language courses.

Its spread, education and use may yet still one day bring back to us our long lost

heritage and ancestral language.
