International Sport Ballroom Dancing Competitions Rules

 


Rule 1

 

Application

 

1.1. These rules apply to conducting International sport ballroom dancing competitions advertised as being held under the aegis of International Dance Union (IDU).

1.2. All proposals pertinent to changes of and amendments to current rules are examined and accepted for implementation by the IDU Sport Ballroom Dancing Commission (further on IDU SBD Commission) with approval of IDU president and are ratified by IDU General Meeting.

1.3. These rules apply to traditional form of duet performing of sport ballroom dancing (a mail and a female partner).

1.4. IDU office is to supply the IDU tournament organizer with the complete set of papers on conducting IDU competitions.

 

 


Rule 2

 

Status of IDU International Competitions

 

2.1. All IDU competitions are open for participation of amateur dance couples from different world countries regardless of their membership in other organizations. Permission to participate in competitions is determined in accordance with terms of competitions. Admission to participate in World and Continental Championships is determined by IDU SBD Commission.

2.2. Status of IDU International competitions is approved by IDU SBD Commission on the basis of application submitted by a specified date.

2.3. Dance couples competing in IDU title tournament shall represent at least 3 (three) countries.

2.4. English is the official language at IDU International Tournaments (conducting of tournament, providing information, giving instructions, competition report etc.).

 


Rule 3

 

Submitting applications for conducting IDU International Competitions

 

3.1. Applications for conducting IDU International Competitions are accepted only from IDU member organizations (full and associated members). Official application forms shall be filled in English and submitted to the IDU office (see official IDU website www.interdanceunion.com)

3.2. Right to conduct IDU competition is granted to:

a) full members of IDU;

b) associated members of IDU in agreement with a full member and/or in accordance with the decision of IDU DSB Committee;

c) associated members if their countries are not represented in IDU by a full member.

3.3. In special cases IDU SBD Commission can announce participation in International Open amateur competitions, conducting by members of WD&DSC, as accountable for ranking of IDU dancers.

3.4. The right to conduct a competition is approved by IDU SBD Commission. This right comes into effect after payment by the applicant of the approved fee for the right to conduct the IDU title tournament and receiving the IDU official letter about granting the rights. Procedure for rights acquisition:

- submitting of the official application before the specified date;

- approving of the application by IDU SBD Commission;

- payment of the fee;

- granting of the rights (IDU official letter).

3.5. It is forbidden to give any information on planned IDU International competitions or advertise them before they are approved by IDU SBD Commission and the official letter about granting the rights is received by the organizer.

3.6. The rights for TV and video filming belong to IDU and they are transferred to the organizer on coordinated terms.

 

 


Rule 4

 

IDU Competitions Organizer has:

 

4.1. To fill in the official IDU application form for conducting competitions and submit it to the IDU office in accordance with regulating documents of IDU.

4.2. To pay a fee for conducting the corresponding tournament of IDU during one month after the date of approving the application by IDU SBD Commission but in any case not later than before the date of the tournament. The fee amount is determined by the IDU Presidium.

4.3. To submit to the IDU office a prepared advertising material with information in English for placing it on the IDU official website www.interdanceunion.com.

4.4. To possess all regulating documents of IDU on conducting competitions, to adhere to the IDU Competition Rules.

4.5. To reimburse travelling expenses of invited experts and guests of honor, to provide them with accommodation and meals, and to pay fees for their work in accordance with the terms as agreed in advance.

4.6. To provide IDU officials with a possibilities to fulfil their duties during the tournament. Otherwise, the IDU officials are obliged to report the transgression to IDU SBD Commission.

4.7. To present the IDU officials during the tournament events.

4.8. If it is necessary, the organizer shall provide the IDU Official Representative with an interpreter.

4.9. To provide the tournament participants with the final information on the tournament results. The information on couples not selected for the next round shall be provided together with adjudicators marks. It is not allowed to give information on the couples selected for the next round together with adjudicators marks. Only numbers of the selected couples shall be announced.

4.10. Immediately after the end of the tournament the organizer shall provide the official representative of IDU with complete results of competitions (registered lists of participants, lists of members of Commissions of Experts of every IDU title tournament, summary results printouts of preliminary and final rounds with the lists of names of finalists and also with final placing and names of represented countries). All this documents shall be certified by the Chairman of Commissions of Experts (Chairman of Adjudicators) and accompanied by photographic materials on the tournament. Al documentation in English shall be submitted both in hard copy and as an electronic document (on CD).

4.11. To secure the presence of mass media representatives in the largest possible number (the press, TV etc) and also the possibility of participation of IDU official representatives in all press events of the tournament (press conferences, interview etc).

4.12. To secure advertising of IDU official sponsors during the tournament and accompanying events in accordance with terms of agreements between IDU and sponsors.

4.13. It is obligatory to place the IDU tournament official name in the hall and parquet floor setting (on the stage and advertisement boards if they are provided). It is advisable to place the pedestal against a background with the tournament name during prize presentation.

4.14. When changes are made in the date, the place of competitions, and when competitions are cancelled, the organizer shall inform the IDU office not later than one month before the date of competitions. Otherwise, if corresponding documents are provided, the organizer shall reimburse IDU members for their expenses on travelling to the competitions.

4.15. The competitions organizer and the President of IDU member organization who submitted the application for conducting the competitions are personally responsible to IDU Presidium for holding the competitions. The Chairman of Commissions of Experts is responsible for the emulative constituent. The Chairman of Commissions of Experts shall examine compliance of the competitions procedure with the IDU Competition Rules.
