A) IDU World Championships (Classic Ballroom and Latin American programs)

1. The goal of conducting IDU World Championships is to select the World best dancing couples (champions and finalists) on IDU version. The winners of these championships are awarded with the title IDU World Champions of corresponding year, discipline and age group.

2. The final competitions of the year shall be organized in the age groups Juniors, Youth-1, Youth-2, Adults, Seniors. They are held in the end of a calendar year after the completion of World Cup series in divisions and sizing up the results.

3. The applications for organizing World Championship shall be submitted to the IDU SBD Commission and shall be considered not later than six month before the date of corresponding competition.

4. The participants of World Championships shall be five dancing couples (a male dancer and a female dancer) from each IDU full member and two couples from each IDU associate member in every age group and in every discipline of sport ballroom dancing and also the best six couples in accordance with the final ranking list calculated on the results of Open World Cups of Asia-Australia, America, Africa, East Europe, West Europe, also the best 48 couples of Blackpool Dance Festival and Junior Dance Festival in the age groups Seniors, Adults, Youth and Juniors in the accordance with the results of the main competitions (i.e., not including the results of Rising Stars and one dance competitions).

5. In accordance with the decision of the IDU SBD Commission the quota of participating couples for the organizer country can be increased (this decision shall be coordinated with the organizer).

 

B) IDU World Combination Championships (10 dances)

1. The goal of conducting IDU World Championships is to select the World best dancing couples (champions and finalists) on IDU version. The winners of these IDU World Championships are awarded with the title IDU World Combination Champions of corresponding year and age group.

2. The competitions shall be held in the following age groups: Juniors, Youth-1, Youth-2, Adults.

3. The applications for organizing World Championship shall be submitted to the IDU SBD Commission and shall be considered not later than six month before the date of corresponding competition.

4. The system of admittance to participation in World Combination Championship (a quota, open and others) shall be determined by IDU SBD Commission.

5. Not more than 3 (three) rounds of World Combination Championship (including both disciplines) shall be held during one day.

C) IDU Continental Championships (European, Asian, American, African, Australian)

(Classic Ballroom and Latin American programs).

1. The goal of conducting IDU Continental Championships is to select the best dancing couples of Continents (winners and finalists) on IDU version.. The winners of these IDU Continental Championships are awarded with the title “IDU European (Asian etc…) Champions” of corresponding year, discipline and age group.

2. The competitions shall be held in the following age groups: Juniors, Youth-1, Youth-2, Adults, Seniors.

3. The applications for organizing Continental Championships shall be submitted to the IDU SBD Commission and shall be considered not later than six month before the date of corresponding competition.

4. The admission system (quota, open and other) to Continental Championships for the participants shall be determined by the IDU SBD Commission.

 

D) IDU Cup Of Nations (Open Individual and Team, Classic Ballroom and Latin American programs)

1. The goal of conducting IDU Cups of Nations is to select the best dancing couples (winners and finalists) on IDU version of the corresponding year in every age group and discipline and the best teams of dance organizations. The winners of IDU Cups of Nations are awarded with the title “IDU Cup of Nations Winners” of corresponding year, discipline and age group in individual and team competitions.

2. The competitions shall be held in the following age groups: Juniors, Youth-1, Youth-2, Adults, Seniors.

3. The applications for organizing individual and team Cups of Nations shall be submitted to the IDU SBD Commission and shall be considered not later than six month before the date of corresponding competition.

4. Individual and team Cups of Nations shall be open competitions for all dancing couples (a male dancer and a female dancer) from different countries of the World regardless of their membership of any organization.

5. The competitions are held using a uniform International selection system (see Appendix 1). Other traditional selection systems can be used by a special decision of IDU DSB Commission.

6. The results of team matches shall be calculated in accordance with the sums of best results of couples in individual contests. The quantity of individual results considered as team points and the system of calculation shall be indicated in the application-provisions on corresponding competitions.

 

E) IDU World Cup in divisions of Asia-Australia, America, Africa, East-Europe, West-Europe

in Classic Ballroom and Latin American programs. Multistage ranking competitions.

 

1. The goal of conducting IDU World Cups in divisions is to select the winners and finalists of IDU World Cups in divisions and the best six couples of every division in accordance with the results of the corresponding year series in every age group and discipline for direct admittance to participation in IDU World Championships beyond approved quota for IDU member organizations, also to select the winners of all the year series of World Cups in accordance with the sum of ranking points. The winners of the year series of IDU World Cups are rewarded with the title “IDU World Cup Winners” of the corresponding year, discipline and age group.

2. The competitions shall be held in the following age groups: Juniors, Youth-1, Youth-2, Adults, Seniors.

3. The applications for organizing World Cups shall be submitted to the IDU SBD Commission and shall be considered not later than three month before the date of corresponding competition.

4. The World Cups stages of divisions shall be open competitions for all dancing couples (a male dancer and a female dancer) from different countries of the World regardless of their membership of any organization or divisions.

5. For the purpose of perfection of performance evaluating systems organizers of divisions World Cups can suggest different ways of conducting competitions which must be approved by IDU SBD Commission. These ways shall be indicated in the application-provisions.

6. The following formula shall be used for calculation of the couple result (r – result) at one of the stages: r =1000 х (1 - P/(Q+С х 10))
here: P (place) – place of a couple at the corresponding competition;
Q (quantity) – quantity of participating couples;
C (countries) – number of participating countries;
The result is approximated to a whole number.

7. The final result of World Cups in divisions shall be calculated in November taking into account the best three results of a couple, achieved during a year, one of these results shall be achieved at traditional calendar competitions organized under the aegis of WD&DSC and determined by IDU Presidium. (If for some reasons a division did not organize more than one stage, the final result shall be calculated taking into account two competitions, one of which shall be organized under the aegis of WD&DSC and determined by IDU Presidium.)

8. The best six couples of every division selected in accordance with the results of World Cups of the corresponding year (in every age group and discipline) shall be directly admitted to participation in World Championship of the corresponding year beyond approved quota for IDU member organizations.

9. The current and the final ranking lists of dancing couples calculated in accordance with the results of Open World Cups shall be regularly published on IDU website www.interdanceunion.com.
