WARMING-UP
1. Work in groups. Discuss the following questions:
a) Why are food, clothes and shelter essential commodities?
b) What essential commodities are the most important to you?
2. Work with a partner. Complete the sentences with a suitable adjective in the comparative degree:

3. Write sentences with an adjective in the superlative degree:

3. Which of the following things are the most useful to you?

Put the nouns from exc. 4 in order of your preference from 1 to 6; number 1 being the one you consider the most useful to you and 6 the one you consider useless at all. Now compare them.
5. In relation to what did you compare these things? Divide these nouns into three groups according to their relation to one another.
