There are various means of travel Although we all agree that the future belongs to air transport the railway today is still one of the most popular means of transport and, besides, it is one of the cheapest.

Should you ask me what kind of transport I like best I’d speak in support of the train. With a train you have speed, comfort and pleasure combined.

What place is more interesting than a big railway station? There is the movement, the excitement, the gaiety of the people going away and sorrow of those who are seeing them off. There are the shouts of the porters as they push luggage trucks along the platforms to the waiting trains, the crowd at the booking-office getting tickets and passengers hurrying to board the train.

At last you manage to make your way through the crowd and get out on to the platform. There are many tracks and trains there. A train is standing at one of the platforms ready to leave. Some of the passengers are looking out of the windows watching the late-comers who are hurrying along the platform to their carriages. Some people are standing on the platform near the train. On another platform a train has just come. Some people are getting out, others are getting in.

You show your ticket to the guard and you go into a most wonderful carriage. You manage to stow away your luggage and get out on to the platform for fresh air and say “Good-bye” to your friends and relatives who have come to see you off. But you have scarcely time to kiss and hug your friends – the train pulls out of the station noiselessly and without a jerk.

You are on your way. You start up a conversation with your fellow-passengers and soon you get to know who is who and what. Now the excitement of the day is over and you begin to feel hungry. After having supper in the dining-car you make your bed, take your towel and go to the toilet to wash yourself.

You feel tired now, after a hearty meal, so you decide to go to bed. You get into your upper berth and absorb a splendid view of the countryside. But drowsiness creeps over you. You close your eyes and soon fall asleep.
