The food we eat depends on lots of things. Taste is a big factor. Culture, religion and health also play a part in what food we eat. Advertising and social factors also have a big influence.
Nowadays a lot of people start thinking of what they eat. We can buy and try all kinds of food – from bananas and avocadoes to meat of exotic animals like pheasant or snakes. Our planet can give us everything – the origin of food is different. If we grow food on the fields of on the trees it means that we get plant food. Food taken from animals is called “animal food”.
Those who take care of what they eat should not forget about the nutritious value of food products. It means how many calories we can get from what we eat. Sometimes we have to eat high-calorie food such as pizza or cakes, but we should try to choose low-calorie products like yoghurt or carrots if possible.
The digestion of food is also very important. Apples are considered light food and easily digested by our stomach while hamburgers can be referred to junk food.
People should think about the place of cooking food. Homemade food like soup or meatballs can take more time but it is much tastier and healthier than food cooked in a café or even in a very popular restaurant.
Besides, food cooked at home is usually fresh because we absolutely know the duration of storage. While buying readymade canned food - a can of tinned meat or fish - we are not sure of the date and very often these products contain a lot of preservatives.
If you take care of how to eat, remember that whole well balanced meal is much better than fast food if we speak about the nutrient balance.
