Обучающимся предлагается послушать короткое сообщение/факт и выяснить подробности у одноцо из участников общения, которому эти подробности известны. При этом следует задавать только общие вопро­сы, чтобы повысить речевую активность участников игры:

Stories

1. A man with a pack on his back went into a field and died.

2. A girl lies heart-broken on the floor. Besides her is a piece of wood. There is saw­dust in the rubbish bin.

3. These two girls can see very well in the dark. All day they lie in a corner of the kitchen.

4. A man went from town A to town В by train. On the way the train went through a tunnel. In town В the man

Solutions

The man jumped from an aeroplane but his parachute di­dn't open.

The girl was a circus dwarf. Every night she measured her height against a piece of wood because she had a terrible fear she would grow. Another dwarf was jealous of her, because she was the star and sawed off the end of her piece of wood. The girl thought she had grown and so was heart-broken.

Brought up since infancy by wol­ves, the two girls were recently found by humans and made to live indoors. They continue to behave the only way they know. (True story.)

The man was blind and went to town В to see an eye-doctor, who restored his sight. When the train went into a tunnel

went to see a person. After the meeting he was very happy. He took the train back to A. When, the train went into the tunnel he threw himself from the train.

5. A couple lie dead in a room. A dog is trying to get out of the room.

7. A man had his arms out through the sides of a tele­phone booth. The phone was off the hook. Outside the booth was a black bag on the ground.

on his return journey, the man thought he had gone blind again.

The couple are two goldfish who­se bowl the dog has just kno­cked over.

The man was a fisherman and the black bag contained an enor­mous fish he had just caught. As he was telling his friend about the catch, he put his arms out to show the length of the fish. In the process, he smashed the glass on both sides of the phone booth.

This happened just after the out-break of the Third World War. Bombs had dropped eve­rywhere and this person was convinced he was the last living person in the world. He deci­ded to commit suicide by jum­ping from the roof of a high building. Halfway down, he heard the phone ring inside the building and realized other peop­le must be alive; hence the scream.
