1 The Chemical-Technological Institute was founded in 1920 and since that time has grown into a big famous Institute.
2 Every year hundreds of young engineers graduate from the Institute and go to different cities and towns. They work at plants and research centres. They carry on research work at the Research Institutes. They create new types of materials, work out new methods of production and investigate different substances.
3 Many famous chemists in all fields of chemistry have graduated from this Institute. The student body is about 7.000, among them full-time students as well as part-time students. The academic year lasts from September till June. First and second year students study fundamental subjects such as mathematics, structure of matter, general chemistry, physics, organic chemistry, philosophy, a foreign language and some others. Beginning with the third year it is a wide range of specialized courses.
4 In December students take their exams and then they have vacations. Besides lectures and practical lessons students work in the laboratories. There are some well-equipped modern labs where students carry out experiments and do research work. There is a good library and reading-rooms at the Institute. The library occupies the whole storey and contains a great number of books.
5 Sports and games are very popular with students. A lot of them go in for sports, especially swimming.
