FIRST CIRCULAR

Dear colleagues,

We would like to invite you to participate in the 4^rd International Conference Rare Plants and Fungi of Ukraine and Adjacent Areas: Implementing Conservation Strategies, which will be held 16 – 20 May 2016 at the O.V. Fomin Botanical Garden of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the M.G. Kholodny Institute of Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine).

Please note that the title of three previous conferences was The Plant Kingdom in the Red Data Book of Ukraine: Implementing the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation. The name change was caused by the intention of the organizers to extend the scope of conference and to involve more scientists from various countries of Europe and other parts of the world.

Main topic areas of the conference:

1. Conceptual issues of the Red Data Book of Ukraine: Plant Kingdom and other national and regional conservation lists.

2. Rare species of vascular plants: taxonomy, geography, biology, ecology, and in situ conservation.

3. Rare species of non-vascular plants and fungi.

4. Ex situ conservation of rare species of plants and fungi.

We are also planning within the conference program the photo competition, roundtable discussion sessions, and field trips (more information will be provided in the Second Circular).

Requirements for participation

For participation in the conference, please send the Registration Form and your full article to the Organising Committee by the deadline of 17 January 2016. After receiving the Second Circular, please pay the conference fee and cost of publication of your article, and send the copy of the money transfer receipt to the Organising Committee (scanned document by email).

Please indicate: name and surname, scientific degree and/or rank, institution (work/training) and position, contact phone / fax numbers, email, title of the article, number of the section, form of participation (personal or absentee), type of presentation (plenary, oral, poster), participating in photo contest (yes / no), need for housing (yes / no). Send your registration form by email as an attached file (file name should be the surname of the participant).

Article Manuscripts: Rules and Guidelines

The Organising Committee accepts articles up to 5 full pages, sent by email. The text must be composed in Microsoft Word. The file name should be the surname of the first author (Latin alphabet). Paper format А4; all margins 2 cm; font Arial (9 pt); single-spaced; paragraph indent 0.5 cm. References should be cited according to the rules of the Ukrainian Botanical Journal (http://ukrbotj.kiev.ua/pr_avtor_e.htm).
