A. MY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD
This Unit offers you to think and discuss the issues of politics and describes various political systems, you will study what is democracy and will know more about international cooperation of our country. You will learn how to make a poster, will participate in debates, will know about markers of integration. But first, we ask you to think about our country, its symbols, its integrity and unity.
! Bear in mind that Unit 4 will be completed with a FINAL EVENT – a project on an Ideal Society.
Here are possible options:
Making a power point presentation.
Recording interviews with your group mates and showing them at the lesson.
3) Making a poster-presentation “Project of an ideal society”
4) Conducting a Round table: “Ideal Society: can we approach it?”
5) Organising a Debate: “Ideal Society: should we strive to it or not?”
STARTER 1
“WHAT ARE WE AS A STATE AND AS A NATION?”
Task 1. Answer the following questions:
1. What values are essential for our people, in your opinion? 2. What historical events are significant for the identity of our citizens? 3. What personalities are important for our national history? 4. What places are meaningful for the nationals of our country? |
Task 2. Choose the photos that refer to Belarus, United Kingdom and the USA? Give arguments for your choice.
Ø What photos would you suggest to place here as symbols of our country?
Ø What else functions as symbols of the state?
Ø Are there any symbols that signify unity and integrity of the state?
Ø Should a country be united? Why?
Task 3: What are integrative markers of our country? Continue the mentioned in the cells.
