Mark your calendars for Sunday, February 26, 2012 when the 84th Academy Awards airs live from Hollywood beginning at 8:30PM on ABC.

It will be presented at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. Contenders were “Hugo” with 11, followed closely by “The Artist” with 10. “Moneyball” and “War Horse” each had 6 nominations, while “The Descendants,” though strong in the acting, writing and directing categories, had only 5.

The biggest surprise in the group was “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close,” a drama about the events happening after the September 11 terror attacks. The film was criticized during the pre-Oscar awards, though its sponsors insisted that it was included into a list of best picture contenders.
