Commentators should check kick off times before kick off. If there is any change to those times, you should inform your agent immediately!
4.Commentators will obtain their tickets themselves, once they are informed about the match they will attend. They should get their tickets as soon as they know they are “IN” for the matches! This might mean take tickets 2-4days before the match! (They are also the only responsible for their transport arrangements, food etc).
5. If no one has contacted you prior to the match you are supposed to cover, please contact your agent via phone or sms!
6. ATTENTION: ticket price is considered the cheapest ticket at the match and commentator is obligated to buy one.
Some useful tips:
• Be sure that your mobile phone battery can come up to a 2 hours call.
Test it so as to be absolutely sure!
• Find a spot in the stadium which is less crowded, so as to be able to hear and be heard.
• The 1st time you attend a match, you should go in the stadium more than
40minutes earlier so as to get used to the whole procedure.*
• Remember that you are not expected to act as a tv/radio commentator.
You should use the given key words and be as simple as you can.
• You should not chat with other people during the match, or do anything else (such as shouting loud in case of a goal etc)that might distract the client.
• If you didn’t hear something, feel free to ask from client to repeat the question and if you think that the client didn’t hear something you said, you also repeat it!
* Pr ocedure
The commentator (You!) should have the mobile phone number given,” in
use” 2 hours prior to kick-off, in case the client calls to confirm that everything is ok.(In most cases client calls 30minutes-2hours before match starts, so as
to confirm you are going to stadium and have the right numbers on mobile, etc)
Then the commentator reaches the stadium at least 40minutes earlier than kick-off. The client calls him about 5-10 minutes before kick off and the call lasts till half-time (during which time, he will comment on the match as being described in the appropriate file attached). There is a 5-10 minute break and
then the client calls again 5minutes before start of 2nd half and this call lasts
till final whistle is blown(sometimes clients might end the call 4-5 minutes before the final whistle is blown).Either way, the commentator keeps watching the game until the game is over. The client might call him just after the game
is over, so as to confirm the final score. After that the job is done.
PAYMENT: The payment/match will be around X euro, plus ticket! (ticket price is considered the cheapest ticket at the match and commentator is obligated to have one). Payment will be held every
15days, via bank account, moneybookers, paypal or any other easy, fast and secure way. Additional details will be given in the near future.
In the near future all commentators will receive an extra detailed PDF file which will contain all the key words needed and a video file, so as to be trained and be ready to start commentaries.
Pre-match
• You should introduce yourself and the game you are covering to the client. You should repeat the teams 2 or 3 times so as to be sure that the client understands who home team is and who away team.
Example: Hi I am Jack.
The game is Manchester united vs Blackburn
Home team Manchester United, away team Blackburn Repeat: Home team Manchester United, Away team Blackburn Home team (Manchester) is on red and white. Away team (Blackburn) is on blue and white.
IF ASKED: In case the client asks, you should inform him about weather conditions(raining, snowing, very cold, sunshine) and the pitch condition(water logged, snow covered, poor, good, perfect)
• You should inform the client in how many minutes kick off takes place.
Example: Match starts in 5(10, 15) minutes.
• When you see the players start entering the pitch you should say:
Players start entering the pitch (field).
• In about 1 minute, that all players will be in the pitch, you should say:
Players are on the pitch(field)
• When all players are on the pitch and there are only waiting for the referee to start the match, you should say: STAND BY
Start of the match
• When the match starts, you should inform the client about that, as long with the team that kicks off.
Example: MATCH STARTS, home team kick off
COMMENTARY during the match

IMPORTANT
GOALS: Check the referee and the linesman to see if the goal stands. A good tip is to see if the referee goes to the centre circle of the pitch. If you are not sure about it, tell client to “wait”.If you are absolutely sure then say CONFIRM and repeat the score
Example: Home/away team scores!! Home/away team scores! Home team one, away team zero. The score is one-zero. I can confirm it. Home one, away zero.
Cards: Red card is EXTREMELLY important so you have to be absolutely sure about it. If you aren’t sure and the referee has stopped the match due to injury and there is a possibility that a red card is being shown, then you should say: CLOSE GAME when you are absolutely sure about the red card say CONFIRM home/away red card and tell the client to OPEN GAME
Penalty: Check the referee to see if a penalty has been awarded. If you are not sure say: CLOSE GAME and if you are sure say home/away team penalty.
Missing a red card is a very serious mistake and will lead toour client of canceling the match!
Client will need update of the match every 5 minutes. The update will include the following 2 questions:
1) What is the game speed? Answer: The game is slow/medium/fast.
2) Which team is better? Answer: Home/away team is a little (much) better or the game is 50-50(fifty-fifty)
