1. Information about a teacher/ instructor

Alibek Bissembayev has a PhD in Economics from Eurasian National University after L.N.Gumilev (2008), a MS and BS in Applied Mathematics from Kazakh National University after al-Faraby (2004,2002). He also made a postdoc research project at University of California Berkeley, CA,USA (2010-2011), and MS in Statistics at the George Washington University

Prerequisites

Knowledge of business strategy analysis, accounting analysis, financial analysis, and prospective analysis is highly recommended.

Post requisites

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to generate effective solutions to problems of decision contexts in equity securities analysis, credit analysis and distress prediction, merger and acquisition analysis, communication and governance.

Course description

The course presents the theories and empirical evidence on recasting the reported financial statements in a standard format for analysis, performing accounting analysis, computing ratios and free cash flows, producing forecasted income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements for as many as 15 years into the future, valuing company from forecasts and preparing a terminal value forecast.

Goal of study

The focus of this course is to evaluate right businesses in the market.

Tasks of study

Students are encouraged to consult with each other when attempting the problem set questions and try to solve exercises before the classes. In order to develop a deep understanding of the different business plan topics covered in the course, students are asked to complement the lecture notes with the related chapters of the materials.
